Tomo Japanese - Atlanta

This restaurant offers some of the best sushi you can find, and the setting is truly exceptional. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the other patrons add to the charm; you might even find yourself dining next to a famous person going incognito. The quality of the fish is outstanding, and the service is equally impressive. It's a pleasure to enjoy exquisite sushi served by knowledgeable staff. This place is top-notch and definitely worth the experience.

Our waitress returned with a napkin, tried to chase the cockroach around the booth, crumpled the napkin, and then disappeared into the kitchen. I was only about 50% sure she actually managed to catch it. Another staff member tried to explain that they had just bug-bombed the restaurant the day before, which was supposedly causing the roaches to come out. My question is: why are you serving food if there’s a roach problem? Eventually, we had to approach the staff huddled behind the counter to ask for our check, and the waitress even asked if we wanted them to remove the cost of the food that hadn’t arrived yet from our bill. Then a manager appeared and quickly suggested that the situation was due to renovations at the sushi bar. When we pointed out that this was a health violation, he stated that we wouldn’t have to pay for our dinner. The roach was not large, about the size of a nickel, which suggests it was young and likely not alone. In the end, we didn't receive a single apology from anyone working there.

2. I was surprised to find imitation crab included in the sashimi lunch entrée. I was open to the chefs choosing the fish, but evidently, that was a mistake. 3. To make matters worse, the disinterested hostess barely looked up from her phone to tell us that they don't validate parking for the garage next door. While these issues may not be major for everyone, if Tomo wants to uphold its reputation as a quality sushi restaurant, it needs to focus on improving the overall dining experience. Until then, we will be seeking other options.

Wow! The food was absolutely delicious, and I had a wonderful experience there. The prices were on the higher side, which is expected with fusion Japanese cuisine. Nevertheless, the service, the presentation of the dishes, the cleanliness, and the overall taste were outstanding. Just a heads up—it’s definitely a bit pricey! But it’s totally worth it for a special occasion.

My husband and I dined at Tomo for the Omakase experience on September 20th, and I have to say that I’m not easily impressed, but this was truly the most remarkable dining experience I've ever had. The chef prepared exquisite dishes from scratch, highlighting fresh flavors that genuinely capture the essence of Japanese cuisine. It felt like a personalized experience, making us feel as though we were the only guests in the restaurant. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience and would happily do it again!
