The wine was fine, but the cocktail was almost all ice and was quite watered down, despite the premium for a bourbon upgrade. From there we went straight to the main courseI had the Prime filet, ordered medium, and it came out well done. So well done, in fact, that the waitress recognized it and took it back to be redone. My wife had the salmon, which she loved, so that was great. Wife had another glass of wine, but I chose to pass on a refill. The sides were good, and the service was good, too. The atmosphere itself was not what you get at other high end steakhouses. The wooden tables and chairs were all close to each other so conversation was difficult. Overall, the food and all was definitely above what you would get at a chain steakhouse, but below what you'd get at other prime steakhouses, yet the price was much closer to the latter. Total for three drinks, one steak entree and one salmon entree was $165 with tip. We will likely try somewhere else next time.
The Japanese A5 was perfect. We loved the Sea Biscuits and much more. There were four in our party and none of us were disappointed with any food item. What a find!!!! Definite do over!
Overall, I would say I was a little disappointed in our experience. This is someplace I’d looked forward to going and I just wasn’t wow’d by it. Host and our server were amazing, as were our drinks and the gnocchi appetizer. Both tables by us complained about how cold it was in the building, and I agree— it felt like the heat wasn’t even on, and I’m never cold. The bread service was lackluster, I was expecting the bread to be warmed and instead it was cold, chewy with very little taste. My partners Wagyu 10oz NY Strip looked “thin cut” and had more gristle than either of us were expecting. My filet was good, the pink peppercorn tallow topper was a nice touch, the mashed potatoes were solid. My only food complaint was about the depth of menu sides, everybody doesn’t like either mashed potatoes or some kind of vegetable. Cost wise, side by side with Ruby’s or Losanti; I probably wouldn’t make the drive back out to Third and Main unfortunately.
This past Saturday was my very first time visiting Third and Main. Prior to these reservations that were made last minute, we had plans of going somewhere more local to us. We live in Amelia, Ohio. So, this was an hour drive one way. The reason we chose to go here was for one, we were celebrating two birthdays as well as we heard the food was phenomenal. Not only was the food beyond delicious, our service was top notch which is hard to find at most restaurants. We were seated almost immediately, served by an amazing waitress named Hailey who went above and beyond explaining the menu and different types of steaks to our party of 4. We were also asked by several different people if there was anything they could get for us which made the service that much more meaningful! Since our dinner Saturday, we have raved and recommended this 12/10 restaurant to all of our family and friends! Can’t wait to return!!!!
Great food, service, and overall a wonderful experience!
