Cracked jokes the whole time and was wearing a fun This is my party hat! The ice cream itself was delicious and the kids ate theirs up immediately. I 've loved Amy 's for years and I 'm so glad to see they 've survived the pandemic well!
The staff is always friendly which makes the experience so much sweeter. I always get coffee ice cream and my kiddos usually get strawberry with marshmallows. Sometimes they'll have a trivia question which if answered correctly (without checking your phone) will win you a free topping. Great local spot, we love Amy's ice cream!
What is it with this Amy's. The past two times I have come with in the last 30 minutes before closing, and both times they locked the doors/shut everything down before closing. The first time, I came with 13 min until closing, and it was locked up and dark. This time, I came with 20 minutes until closing...like really??? Y'all think it's okay to close up 20 minutes before the hours on your window say you close?? Change the hours if you want to close early. Not cool at all. I give up on the westlake Amy's, it's worth the 6 min more drive to the 6th street location- they are true to their hours.
I have always been a fan of Amy's ice cream having grown up in Austin. Their Mexican Vanilla ice cream cannot be beat. It's just that good. I'm a simple girl when it comes to ice cream and this last visit I had ordered a root beer float. They included the perfect amount of ice cream in the float and gave me the whole bottle of root beer so I could pour my own refills. Would definitely recommend!
Every experience I 've had with THIS Amy 's location in particular has been nothing short of stellar. I live not too far from here and much like many other overworked/underpaid adults my age eat way too much ice cream. Therefore, I can assure you my critique is well founded. The ice cream is nothing short of 5 stars. As far as the customer service and the personnel goes also 5 stars. I scrolled through some other (negative) reviews and even though we 're all entitled to our opinions, I 'm entitled to say that they don 't know what they 're talking about! Without being too revealing, I once stopped in LITERALLY 1 minute before closing time to get ice cream for my girlfriend who was having a particularly rough time of the month . I was fully expecting to be met with (justifiable) disdain by the employees who 'd already almost finished closing shop, but it was a calculated decision... Anyways, the girls working couldn 't have been nicer. We shared pleasant convo while they scooped my ice cream and I went on my way. These were teenage girls, by the way. I 'm much older and have spent years working in the service industry and even I wouldve been disgruntled with a visit THAT late. Today, I went in with a different request. I asked if I could hang a flyer for a fundraiser I 'm running for a friend. I didn 't have to tell them what it was for (my brother who has terminal brain cancer). Not only did they say yes, but I was given a prime location to hang the flyer. As cliche as it sounds, I now go to Amy 's for more than just the ice cream. I go because I know I can expect to be met with cool people with big smiles.
