Contribuisci feedbackWhen he prepared our nigiri scallops, they cost $6 each. As we watched him make the sushi rolls, we noticed they were mostly rice, with just a tiny piece of scallop on each roll. The Elvis roll we ordered fell apart as soon as we tried to pick it up. It was really disappointing that our meal didn't meet our expectations. I hope this experience was an exception, and that we can return for a better visit in the future. However, this time left me surprised and questioning whether things are usually like this.
We discovered a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant located within an office building. The food was outstanding, particularly the sake. The staff were friendly and eager to assist. This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant we’ve encountered in Austin. Food: 5/5
Unfortunately, our experience tonight raises serious doubts about our future visits, which I hate to admit. After arriving shortly after the restaurant opened at around 5:40 PM, my wife and I got seats at the end of the sushi bar. We ordered our usual: cocktails, miso soup, gyu tataki, and a house salad. We then ordered a large hot sake (a staple for us), along with our preferred nigiri, rolls, and sashimi. After enjoying our meal and drinks, we finished and the waitress inquired if we'd like anything else. We weren’t quite sure at first, so after a few minutes, we decided on a few additional items along with another sake. About 15 minutes later, the waitress checked in again to see if we would be ordering more food. We informed her that we were ready to pay the bill instead. After settling the bill and handing over our card, just as we were about to finish our remaining drinks, a different server approached us. She bluntly and sternly informed us that there was a long wait for the sushi bar and stated that we needed to leave. We had been there for less than two hours, had spent nearly $300, and were still wrapping up drinks we had already paid for. We weren't dawdling, loud, or disruptive in any way. In all the years we’ve waited patiently for a spot at the sushi bar, we've seen many patrons linger well after finishing their meals and paying their bills while the staff never mentioned anything to them. We’ve never complained, not once. But tonight's interaction was shockingly rude—it made us feel embarrassed in front of other diners (I even noticed the woman next to my wife looking over in surprise). Such a poor display of customer service overshadowed 15 years of positive experiences and any future ones we might have had. There’s absolutely no excuse for needing to rush diners out when a simple, polite request would have sufficed. We would have understood; we were already on our way out. It seems that you have forgotten your regulars, especially loyal customers who have supported you for over a decade. It may be time for my family and friends to reflect that behavior back and consider stopping our visits or recommending your restaurant in the future.
This sushi restaurant is great!I need to first mention the staff. The curly haired hostess was fantastic. She took great care of us when my reservation mistake (booked the wrong night) was discovered upon our arrival. The bartender made quality drinks and in a timely manner despite being the only one working at the bar. Our waitress was amazing, I wish we remembered her name (long hair and glasses). She was super knowledgeable about specific fish, other sushi spots in town and offered recommendations that were spot on.We ordered the Ankimo (monk fish liver) as an appetizer, waitress recommendation, and were delighted with the freshness and taste. This was the best cooked bite we have ever had of Ankimo. From there we went omakase which included nagiri, sashimi, classic rolls, and dessert. We were most impressed with the quality and taste of the lean tuna, which I never say.The star however was the basted and grilled teriyaki cod. Light, flaky, moist, mildly sweet- delicious on all counts. The star drink was the Tequila Daisy cocktail. Chambord adds a hint of raspberry flavor making this drink unique and complex. Try it!
I ordered the sushi deluxe, and it was so fresh and delicious. Appetizers are all amazing as well. The service was quick and people are super friendly.
