Contribuisci feedbackThe pistachio oasis is perfection. Easily one of the best cakes I ever had. We wanted a cake for our micro-wedding that our guests would love. We got several slices to try from Paper Route Bakery and from the first bite of pistachio oasis, my husband (who is not a dessert person) and I were sold! Not only was the cake delectable, but it was a perfectly cute presentation with our name and wedding date on it. The decoration is simple and classic, which fit our wedding aesthetic. Everyone was raving about how wonderful the cake tasted bc it’s not overly sweet but has a beautiful flavor. Make sure to get extra because we were so happy to have enough to eat for the next couple days after the wedding.
Chef Aaron Seriff-Culick opened his Paper Route Bakery in Austin, Texas, in 2017 and already this takeout/only operation that offers creative and innovative and delicious cakes, pastries, scones and cookies is widely regarded as the best bakery in the city. Located at 1010 East Cesar Chavez Street, it is open from 4 to 7 Monday through Friday and 11 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday. Cake is available by the slice seven days a week. For two travelers, a slice of cake or two or three is a genuine treat, even if the car gets messed with a few crumbs. But what to choose? Blueberry Snooze? Lemon Kiss? Banana Pantsuit? Coffee Fox? Pistachio Oasis? Strawberry Book Club? Chocolate Faintiny Couch? How about a slice of lemon chiffon cake with honey poppyseed crust, lemon ganache infused with lavender and limoncello, Meyer lemon and Chantilly cream? Or the flavors of the month? Blueberry chiffon cake with almond and toasted white chocolate crust, blueberry ganache infused with oat, almond, grapefruit, maple and star anise with blueberry white tea Chantilly cream. How about Terra Firma or dirt cake? It consists of Acai chiffon cake with ginger and toasted walnut crust, beet ganache infused with cacao, papaya, lemon grass and mint, Acai matcha Chantilly cream, dark chocolate pour-over and black truffle cake dirt. We also left with a half-dozen Peanut Butter Milk Shake Cookies. They tasted as good as they sound.
Some of the best cake I’ve ever had. I got the chocolate cake and it was so delicious! I can tell that they really put thought and care into making their cakes. It was so moist. The filling is tasty and the frosting is so creamy. At the same time, it had the right amount of decadence. The staff is so welcoming and kind as well. They even gave a sample of their strawberry cake and it was also just as delicious! A wonderful place for a dessert fix. Parking was a bit difficult but only because I came on a Sunday morning and it is right next to a church and a busy lunch rush at Cenote. Worth the visit for sure though!
The cakes here are really moist and not too sweet. I love how every cake has a lot of complex flavors that make each one unique. I've tried almost the whole menu, and the lemon kiss and pistachio oasis are my favorites. I didn't really care for the raspberry carlisle or strawberry book club.
I still think about this place and how amazing their cakes are. It was in walking distance from our air bnb and I wish I came back more than once! They're connected to Cenote, so if you see a long line then don't be alarmed! It's usually the line for Cenote. Make your way through the plastic covering, the window for Paper Route Bakery. We got 3 slices of cake-banana pantsuit, coffee fox, and strawberry book club and THEY WERE FANTASTIC. Banana pantsuit: banana spice cake with white chocolate macadamia nut crust, banana ganache infused with allspice and Dominican rum, butterscotch Chantilly cream Coffee fox: coffee chiffon cake with cinnamon hazelnut crust, coffee ganache infused with toasted hazelnut, mocha Chantilly cream Strawberry book club: strawberry chiffon cake with black pepper crust, strawberry ganache infused with basil and pink champagne, strawberry Chantilly cream My absolute favorite was the banana pantsuit, but I also love banana desserts! Strawberry book club is a close second and then coffee fox. I really enjoyed these cakes cause they were moist and the chantilly creams were quite nice. It wasn't heavy like your traditional buttercream which I preferred. Run don't walk to try this bakery!
