Royal India - Austin

South Austin doesn't have many Indian restaurants, and I found Tarka and Pakwan to be disappointments. However, this place is the first one I've genuinely enjoyed. It's budget-friendly and has a great ambiance. The only downside is its location, especially if you're coming from Brodie Lane. You need to drive all the way to Westgate Blvd on 290W, make a U-turn, and then head back toward the Brodie/290 intersection to reach it.

I attended a baby shower at this restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The food and service were excellent! They even allowed me to bring in cupcakes from outside for the celebration. I highly recommend this place!

However, we did have one issue with the service. On the bright side, our waiter was friendly, pleasant, and very helpful in explaining the menu. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It took what felt like forever to get our check, likely because our waiter seemed overwhelmed. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed that night. Despite this hiccup, I will definitely return for the outstanding food.

Decent food. We went late night, service was decent. Food was good too, but nothing WOW. Not bad as Indian restaurants go

I purchased a couple of Groupon vouchers and did not read the fine print. I invited 3 friends to the Saturday buffet and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We shall return for dinner to use the Groupon vouchers at a later date. I really appreciate a great Indian Restaurant on this side of town!
