Wonderful experience! From the locals to the restaurant to the employees, we didn’t just feel welcomed, we felt at home. My husband and I went to the restaurant for take out this morning and we were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. We were obviously out of place and everyone we encountered went out of their way to welcome us. The food was fantastic! I ordered the country friend steak and eggs. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. He couldn’t say enough about how tasty it was. He LOVED the biscuits. Don’t miss out on your chance to dine here while in Backus! As for my family, we are definitely returning! Twice in a row my food order for take out took 25 minutes. A hot beef sandwich that had about 3 tough pieces of roast beef in it. I did call and let them know but nothing was ever done about compensation. I won't be coming back. I finally got a SORRY RESPONSE AFTER MANY MONTHS. SORRY IS JUST A WORD TO ME...ACTION! I’m not sure what just happened. To all the other waitstaff but the short dark haired woman, you are all amazing and doing a great job. Food was good. If it was served to the correct table. I don’t want to drag a business but obviously waitressing is not the short dark haired lady’s strong suit and she should be moved to something not customer facing. It had been a long time since my last visit, and I honestly thought the place might be closed! However, after seeing some positive reviews, we decided to give it another shot. The food was good but not exceptional. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy, and while the sausage was flavorful, the two large patties were a bit much. The homemade bread for the toast was outstanding! The eggs were fresh and cooked just right. The service was attentive at first, but things changed when several large groups arrived wanting to be seated together. The three women working were doing their best to accommodate everyone, which left those of us who were already there to manage on our own — understandable, considering how hard they were working. We will definitely return! Overall, I’d rate the food, service, and atmosphere each a 4.
