Mitchell River Tavern - Bairnsdale

We booked a table at 6.30pm on a Saturday for two couples. It was pretty busy when we arrived but the staff were great, promptly arranging for drinks and meals to be ordered. Given that most of the table were occupied, it was acceptable that our meals took around 30 mins to be delivered. But the wait was really worth it. Funnily enough, three of us chose a porterhouse steak but with different sauce. My garlic and herb butter steak was the best I have had in the last few years and the other two people felt the same way. Our friend chose a from the specials menu and she said it was delicious. As I said it was super busy, but the staff were often checking on us to see if we required anything further. Overall a great meal and great service.

Dining area was clean, windows spotless. Felt rushed by the waitstaff. Certainly not busy considering Field Days were on. Plenty vacant tables. Basic pub grub. Not as it was in previous years.

We arrived without a booking but the staff were very friendly and found us a table. Service as prompt, wine very good and the pasta was delicious.

Been here before and this place never fails. We ordered fish and chips with a little garden salad and chips. Service terrific. Enjoyed the lunch.

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. It was a cold and rainy night when we arrived, so it was great to be able to conveniently have a meal downstairs. The staff were very friendly. After our meal, we were able to go back to our room without having to venture outside. The room was clean and comfortable, with coffee and tea making facilities, as well as a private ensuite bathroom.
