The Main - Bairnsdale

There are not many options for those who are looking to save money. The service was good. We had lunch at this restaurant and it cost between A$1-20 per person. The food was just okay, but the service and atmosphere were nice.

I recently had dinner at this restaurant and had an amazing experience. The price per person ranged from A$20 to A$40. The food was top-notch, I would rate it a 5 out of 5. The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive, also a 5 out of 5. The atmosphere was great and added to the overall dining experience, another 5 out of 5. I highly recommend this restaurant for a great meal.

Very confusing finding the phone number to make a booking Looked up the Main Hotel on Google and the number was disconnected No mention anywhere that it is now called The Cow and Fish. To my knowledge it is still signposted as The Main Hotel. Stumbled accidentally onto the right number eventually after four calls to disconnected numbers. Business may do better if people are aware of name change and correct number.

I normally don't write reviews, but I was very impressed by this restaurant. The new owners, who we were told opened on December 23rd, deserve a shout out. I can only comment on the delicious porterhouse steak served with wood-fired potatoes and a perfectly done salad. We were also impressed by the other dishes we saw being served and can't wait to try more of the menu. The restaurant used to be old-fashioned, but now it's very modern with all the food cooked in a wood-fired oven. I give it top marks all around!
