By 6pm, there was hardly a free table, so its obviously a popular spot. I love hake, and the hake and chips here was one of the nicest I have ever eaten! My husband had melt in the mouth chicken goujons. We shared a dessert which was huge. The price, when compared to others in the area, was great value. The staff were lovely, a child at a nearby table spilled a drink, and very quietly and efficiently it was all cleared up with smiles all around. Will definately be back next time we're in the area!!

I had dinner at the The Schooner Bar on four nights and breakfast on five mornings and without doubt Brid Mike serve the best food I have had in East Cork over many years of visiting Ballycotton and the surrounding hinterland. The hospitality is great, superb service, spot on value for money. The beer wine quality is always excellent. Good menu, really fresh ingredients, especially the fish which is caught locally by the O'Riordan family.
We stayed several weeks in Ballycotton and ate at the Schooner Bar several times during our stay. The food was very fresh, simply prepared and delicious. They have daily fish specials that are caught locally and very fresh tasting. While not extensive, their menu had a good range of options for all of us. My wife tried the roast beef and mashed potatoes and was thrilled with her meal. I had fish and chips (what else? with both Haddock and Plaice, and both were excellent. A special shout out to the chips. The were crisp on the outside and soft/flavorful in the middle. Service was very good, even to the point of starting to pour my Guinness when I sat at the table. We loved the family run feel of the place, Dad runs the bar/front of the house, Mom does the cooking, daughter/son wait tables and run the hot food out to guests. We rate The Schooner wiith five stars and would recommend it for a dinner while in Ballycotton.
We took bed and breakfast here. Pub part was busy when we called in. Bedroom en suite both a bit basic in decor with worn walls and its dated decor. Dorma windows with a sliding blind , slept well here even though it’s on the road side, A functional good value basic place. Breakfast served in the bar …and it was better than expected.
