Two Sams - Balnarring

I had the Chilli Scrambled Eggs Hollandaise with pancetta, and it was an amazing meal! I requested it gluten-free, without shallots, and with extra pancetta, and they accommodated all my requests without any issues. The dish was incredibly delicious, and the portion size was great. I also had the best soy mocha I've ever tasted!

This charming little café offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a delightful spot for a meal or coffee, especially on warmer days when you can enjoy your food under the umbrellas. I recently stopped by for a coffee and was tempted to order a slice of cake, but I didn’t take a picture this time—sometimes it just feels like too much effort to capture your food. The menu has a wide variety of options, and I found myself eyeing the delicious plates being served to other diners—I'll definitely order more next time! The decor is visually appealing, and the tables and chairs are very comfortable. The staff here are exceptionally friendly, which adds to the inviting atmosphere. Additionally, the café is wheelchair accessible, family-friendly, and offers ample parking.

On our first day, we only ordered takeout coffees, and they were fantastic—rich and creamy. While waiting for our drinks, I couldn't help but notice everyone else's meals, which led us to return the next day for breakfast. The café was bustling, and we sat at a large communal table, which still allowed for a bit of privacy. Since we were in a hurry, I ordered right away. We opted for coffee again, and honestly, they tasted even better than the takeouts from the previous day—maybe I was just craving caffeine! For breakfast, we tried the Phase Two special house benedict ($22), featuring pulled pork, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and corn salsa, all served on a lightly toasted croissant. The hollandaise was homemade and absolutely delicious, and the eggs were perfectly poached. I was initially skeptical about the croissant, as I usually prefer sourdough, but it complemented the pulled pork beautifully—definitely a unique pairing that I wouldn't have thought of at home. I’d give it a 9/10 for originality. We also ordered 'Hurley’s Hero' ($18), which consisted of light and fluffy zucchini fritters—not your typical café fritters—served with poached eggs, beetroot hummus, salmon rillette, cabbage, and dukkah. Once again, this dish was exceptional! The eggs were spot on, and all the flavors blended perfectly. I'll definitely return when I'm back in Merricks, as the entire menu looks tempting. I highly recommend this café to anyone passing through or staying in the area. The staff were friendly and attentive, even during the busy rush. Keep up the great work, everyone!

4.2<br/ <br/ We have a very good cafe here, folks. It’s well on trend with a lovely modern funky fit out, funky staff and, most importantly, mighty good funky food and coffee. Funky is the word. My long black was a cracker. Rich, dark and imposing, it was enhanced by the gorgeous thick cream they’re wise enough to have here. I salute them for the quality of the brew and cream and for the cute presentation on a board. It’s hard to beat. My partner loved her superbly made strong flat white and dangerous but delicious mango slice too. Add lovely service and you’ve got a very fine cafe.<br/ <br/ I’d never been to Balnarring before but now I know Phase Two is here and other great things, I’ll be back for sure. Bravo.
