The restaurant seemed to be trying too hard to create an authentic soul food experience, but it fell short. The reservations were always booked solid, the waitresses were hardly attentive, and the food arrived cold. The music was too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation, and the place didn't seem very clean. I couldn't even recognize what they served us as soul food. Overall, the food wasn't great and the service was terrible. The only positive points were the delicious cornbread and greens. When we complained, they did deduct something from the bill. I've heard better things about the Red Rooster in London, so maybe give that one a try instead.
The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were friendly. However, I was disappointed by the fried chicken which lacked spice and did not meet my expectations for a fusion of American and Ethiopian flavors. I have had Ethiopian food in the past and found this dish to be bland. I was also unhappy with the value for money, considering we had to wait for our reservation and were asked to leave while the restaurant was not ready. On a positive note, the nachos were delicious though a bit pricey. Overall, the ambiance was good but the food was underwhelming.
The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, excellent service, and a well-designed dining area. The food is great and portions are generous, suitable for a group of at least four people. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Especially I like red rooster for hamburger, because I like hamburger also very much. I and my friends tested last Monday. the service and the employees are very good. thanks to red rooster for their big hamburger and their great achievements.
Having watched Marcus Samuelsson on the TV show Chopped, I wanted to visit one of his restaurants. Living in the US the Harlem location is a hour drive and I don't like the traffic. I was thrilled to find out this one, right next...to our hotel, is owned by him! I ordered the Brixton Jerk but I was concerned because I never had good jerk outside of the Caribbean. I was very pleasantly surprised! It was moist and quite tasty! We also had the Dorowat Duck tagliatelle and it was great too! I may make that trip to Harlem soon.
