Contribuisci feedbackWe called and booked a table with children, upon arrival we were told to leave because our children were apparently "noisy". We had just arrived in Canberra travelling for 3 hours, hungry with four children in tow to be kicked out after being there for less then 5 minutes, in the cold without a taxi. This is digraceful and not acceptable. I've never experienced such hostility with children in a restaurant.
My husband and I had a great night at the Ottoman Cuisine. The decor is very lovely, with comfortable armchair seating, and enough space between you and other diners so that you can have a nice and relaxed conversation without being overheard. We ordered the house dips to start, a generous serving (too much to share between two), entrees we shared the zucchini flowers and seared scallop and eggplant mousaka - both devine. For main we shared the king prawns and the snow peas and the night's duck special - also both very delicious! By the time dessert came around we only had room for one (was so full by this stage) so we shared the Lindt chocolate cake with pomegranate and raspberry sorbet. Staff was friendly and attentive and service was prompt. I would recommend trying this place for a nice modern take on Turkish food.
This restaurant has an amazing interior! From outside its all covered with plants flowers and trees! I loved it! It reminded me of a fairy tale literally! I was very impressed. Service was alright. I went to dine in on my own and had $85 degustation. The waiter seated me and went back after giving me the menus. I looked at the degustation and asked him if I can get it and he said yes. Basically there was no explanation about the food etc but the other tables which were around me, the waiter asked them if it's their first time, if they know about the menu, he explained them everything so I felt a bit strange cuz he didn't speak to me at all but the other tables after every course the staff was asking how is everything, and when they keep food on their table, they explained it so basically service was really good with other customers but no one spoke or asked me anything haha which I am not complaining about but I felt a bit strange. However the food was good, zucchini flower with cheese was great, mushroom was a bit oily but nice, the best was the burnt custard with ice cream. I will definitely be back cuz I love Turkish food and I loved the place.

A great find lead to a great night. Ottoman Cuisine is located off Broughton and Blackall Streets and is filled with a mixed bag of local aristocrats from near and far. This place is bustling from about 6.30pm - 7.00pm and with the presence this restaurant demands from the street, we can see why. From the art deco entrance, Islamic garden arrangement, mood lighting, the service and attentiveness the waiters provides, Ottoman Cuisine delivers on many fronts and provides us a welcoming introduction sneek peek into fusion Turkish Meze. To start, a glass of 2013 Henschke 'Henry’s Seven' shiraz grenache mataro viognier from the Barossa Valley, SA $15.0 which was quite nice. For entree we shared a Meze selection of house made dips & pide bread $33.0, mains came shortly after with an order of ŞÍŞ KEBAB which was a traditional lamb skewers served with cucumber yoghurt cacik & olive oil braised English spinach & baby carrots $32.0 as well as PÍLÍC BULGUR PÍLAVLI spatchcock, de-boned; marinated with mild spices & lemon juice, char-grilled, served with cracked wheat pilaf & baby spinach $32.0 that was absolutely succulent and delicious. To finish off the meal and to satisfy our sweet tooth, an order of TURKISH DELIGHT $8.0 & a chefs special which we have no idea what it was other than a delicious creme caramel topped with several fresh fruits. If ever in the area or making a visit to the Capitol, make sure to stop past and have a feed as you won't be disappointed. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find
