Restaurant Wasserturm - Basel

I can't completely dismiss the fact that the service is rather middle class and can seem a bit rude to some. I was a bit irritated at the beginning too. But give the restaurant's hidden charm a chance! I was invited there today and chose menu 1 from the handwritten menu. Then we were brought a huge soup tureen filled with a delicious and fresh vegetable semolina soup. The soup was definitely homemade because the carrots were not completely pureed and still had some consistency. Then a salad was served. The greens were… lettuce

Great food and nice atmosphere, generous quantities. Staff are fun. A little gem by the landmark water tower in Basel. At lunch, soup or salads essentially thrown in complimentary. Coffee pretty decent too.

Well decorated garden directly next to the water tower. Very green and relaxed atmosphere. Best to make a reservation if you can, we managed to get a free table just stopping by.

Good food and a pleasant to large quantity (i.e. great quality as well as quantity), manageable menu with home-style cuisine (for me, among other things, a sign of freshness), cheap/reasonable prices, friendly service, quiet place, easy to walk from public transport stops reach or also ideal for a stopover after a walk/bike tour .

What a disgrace!! We were turned away at the entrance with strange hand signals. So rude. Extremely overloaded and very unfriendly... never again! I go out to eat with my family so often but have never experienced anything like this.
