Contribuisci feedbackAs Americans in Hobart on Thanksgiving we wanted to find something fun for dinner, but we didn't want standard American Thanksgiving fare, so we decided to go for sushi. We picked Kosaten because their menu looked good and because the food came on a conveyor belt and that was a new experience for us. We were very pleased with our choice! We had a reservation on a Thursday night and we were glad we did; the place got very busy. Our table was ready on time. We ordered via a tablet at our table. Once ordered, items appeared via a conveyor belt delivering to your table. There was also a button to call the server if you needed anything and she brought us our green tea which probably wouldn't have made the trip on the conveyor belt. We tried a number of different items including a couple of vegetable rolls, aburi salmon, a mixed sushi plate, a teriyaki chicken roll, and a volcano roll. Everything was good, but our absolute favorite was the soba salad. The noodles in it were so good that we ordered three! To finish it off, we ordered a matcha green tea tiramisu. It was beautiful and was a delightful finale to an excellent dinner. This was a fun and very tasty dinner and we would definitely love to return if we were in the area again.
Great food, very quick serving, love their order system where you order online as quickly or slowly as you like, great ambience. We love it there !!
Review written by my 12YO son When we arrived at this restaurant and walked through the doors the atmosphere was moody, chill but also contemporary and quite funky. The food was absolutely amazing. Even me as a kid when I read the menu I didn’t like many of the options but it was amazing once the food came. The staff were very kind and the service was amazing. All of our meals came quite fast and we enjoyed very much, 100% recommended and coming back.
First time visit to this Japanese restaurant. The range and quality of food were good but relatively expensive. Basically a fast food place without a lot of atmosphere. Being of the older school, we prefer to be waited upon with a printed menu rather than try to work out how the digital menu and ordering system work. Definitely put off by the continual running of the fast food train past our table. A bit like eating next to a railway station. An interesting experience but don't think we'll be returning.
Kosaten is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants. It located in Salamanca Place on Hobart's waterfront and is an easy walk from the Hobart CBD (approximately 15 minutes). It offers very filling, great value food along with attentive service. My wife and I have dined there on multiple occasions with friends, and have never had an issue. Highly recommended.
