When we inquired about vegan options, the staff enthusiastically shared that all of their baked goods were vegan, as well as many hearty options and cakes. We were impressed by the variety of vegan choices and loved the high energy of the staff! Although most of the shop was vegan, if it were completely vegan, it would be a solid 5/5 for me. The food itself was amazing. We ordered a BBQ Meat Cheese Toastie, vegan bacon and cheese turnovers, butterscotch yumyum, apple Danish, and a pack of mini Bakewell tarts, all for around £17, which we found to be very reasonable. The toastie was heavenly, simply delicious and I would order it again in a heartbeat. The bacon and cheese turnovers were also fantastic, with crispy pastry. Among the sweet treats, the butterscotch yumyum stood out for me with its perfect texture, taste, and sweetness. The apple Danish was good as well, although not as impressive as the yumyum, it was still delicious. The Bakewell tarts were also delightful, with a denser texture than expected, which I enjoyed. Our visit was a great experience and my only complaint about Coughlans is that there isn't one closer to me!
Coughlans is always a great place to buy hearty and sweet vegan treats, without Coughlans I would really suffer looking for much baked vegan options
I absolutely adore this restaurant! The majority of the menu is vegan, which is fantastic. I would give it 5 stars if it were completely vegan. The sausages are my favorite. The cakes and Cheeze Pasty are also delicious, although I believe they could improve the corn pulp dish. I have updated my previous rating as of June 9, 2022.
After trying Coughlan's vegan steak bakery as a Takeaway, my first in-store experience did not disappoint. We sampled the curry bags, cheese and onion pasty, and sausage roll, which we found to be a healthier and less greasy option compared to Greggs. I even had a taste of my wife's mocha with oat milk, which we both agreed was delicious. The staff, particularly Elaine, was very helpful.
A friendly bakery with loads of clearly-marked vegan options (sandwiches, pies, mushroom “sausage” rolls, cakes) sold at very reasonable prices. So good!
