Easily one of the best cafes in the area. Great variety of food with fresh quality ingredients. Plenty of seating to sit and people watch. Attentive service and superb coffee to boot. Holds themed dinners. Boutique beers. Skilled head chef.
We had the pleasure of enjoying a beautiful meal at Issi and co on Friday night in Bega. Food was full of flavors ,service was great , nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed our night with you guys, highly recommend.
Their house made cakes are famtastic. Not sure $3.90 is too expensive for a coffee and well below most city prices. Coffee was very good.
I just had bangers and mash there. Normally, when you think of bangers and mash, you think of sausages, boiled potato pulverised to a pureé and gravy. Normally, this is what you find and this is the basic standard to a classic winter meal. Take that concept to another level, then another. Find an old, wise hermit at the top of a mountain and ask them how to perfect that and whatever mystic answer they give won't compare to what I just ate. My tastebuds can still remember that flavour and are now concerned that anything I eat after will be a dissapointment. It was the stuff of magazines reviewing restaurants and food you want to eat but due to some inconvenient curcumstance such a dream forever remains in glossy pages in a drawer or stacked on a table. If you've just arrived from another planet to destroy earth and all it's inhabitants, eat at Issi's and reconsider your options. It was that beautiful. It boggles my mind to no end how unbelievably phenomenal it was. The best thing is, the same goal in outshining the standard seems to occur across the menu. It's exciting, the anticipation in wanting to try something else from the menu. It's not exactly an emotion I ever attribured when thinking about where to eat, but here I am converted. From what I understand the menu changes with the seasons, meaning what you find now might not be what you find in the summer (that means you should stop reading and go there right now wherever you are). Now, being a restautant/café, ridiculously good food isn't the only thing they serve. Out of all the hot beverages served in Bega's immediate area, the coffe there is the best. Admittedly, there are others that do come close, but if you want to sample coffee in any area, you want to start at the top. Being a licensed premises, naturally you can find a good drink here. But rather than serve a basic beer or mediocre merlot or kinda ok cab sav, these things are taken to that same level as well. All the cakes in the shop are made in the shop. Everything, from the muffins to the biscuits, the slices and tarts the stuff of guilty fantasies are all made from scratch. There's a good chance you won't find these elsewhere, or of a better quality if you did. They are to die for. Overall, it is flabbergasting how much thought and attention to a high standard is put in to the place. It reverberates in the atmosphere.
