Golden Junk Restaurant - BELLERIVE

The food was probably better than average, the service was good but the prices were way over the top. The portions were smaller than expected, especially given the prices.

Decided to return to this well known Cantonese restaurant after almost 10 years. Still good quality food, well presented and with lots of flavour. All the usual chicken, beef and pork dishes with standard sauces. These dishes labelled spicy are suitable for most Australian palettes, very mild really. Dishes are a bit small for the price, but the service is good. Drinks are reasonably priced. The only draw back to this restaurant are the very steep entry stairs.

Visited this restaurant with 3 adults and a 6 year old boy We ordered 2 entrees and 4 mains. I have never been to a Chinese restaurant where the mini spring rolls come in serves of 2. We also ordered steamed dim sims and the serve was 3. The price was not indicative of the small serve size. We ordered Sate Prawns ,BB Pork ,Combination with fried noodles and Mongolian lamb to share.The flavours were really good and the sate was excellent. The vegetables were fresh and beautifully crunchy but there were only 6 Prawns. That's 1 1/2 prawns each! Llike wise all other dishes were dominated with lovely vegetables but insufficient of the main ingredient which should have been pork or lamb etc. I note that several other reviews have mentioned serve size as being a problem.It is not something that i normally associate with Chinese restaurants! The service was excellent and the owner was friendly. The prices are reasonable to high but would be acceptable if the serve size was increased.

We had a lovely meal last night, the power was out so we decided to head for some Chinese. I have been going to the Golden Junk for a long time now, since the early 90's and the food is still great. Its nice to see familiar faces as well and pleasant, friendly service, all adds to the atmosphere and to why we keep coming back :)We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, fantastic food and drink. Keep up the good work and we will be back, its a must for any traveller :)

This restaurant consistently has great food. It never disappoints. Favourite would be the Combination Sweet and Sour with crispy noodles.
