Went there on a recommendation if a coworker. Glad I did. Some of the best bbq around short of going to Texas. Had a two way with ribs and tri tip. Excellent. My sides were the beans and potato salad. Liked both, the beans are not like the typical canned baked beans, seems to be more a honey based sauce instead of molasses. The potato salad was lighter on mayo the way I like it and adding shredded cheddar cheese. Diffinently something I'm going to add to my potato salad. Like typical bbq it's not cheap. It's 30 bucks for two way with two sides and a sweet tea that's not just tea with sugar dumped in it. Comes with a mild and hot bbq dipping sauce. Get there early, they close when sold out. Have chicken, hot links and smash burgers as well. Going there again.
Hands down one of the best tasting, mouth salivating, feel like home experience you're going to get in BBQ. As someone whose roots come from the island, I can tell you there is a multitude of generational experience in the kitchen and on the grill. BBQ is about the taste, the fall off the bone tantalizing flavors which combine cultures and cooking styles. Da TRI-TIP, da LUMPIA, da MAC, da SAUCES, cmon now! But there's one thing that separates this joint from all the rest...and its FAMILY! Not trying to sound like Vin Diesel but its true. You're not gonna get a family experience like this so easily. They know who you are if you come around enough and they make you feel like the fam. To me it feels like I'm back home and my uncle is on the grill and the aunties, nieces, and nephews are helping out. I'm just saying if yall want to know how to have a cookout island style go to backyard BBQ. Its Food and Family baby! What better way to have a BBQ dude!
Love this place. Doc the owner really has a good thing going here. The Mexapino lumpia's are undefeated. Delicious birria wrapped in lumpia that you dip in the drippings! Amazing!! I've been coming to backyard bbq before they had a store front and Doc hasn't switched up the taste and flavor that originally got me to come back. Keep up the great work Doc!
Never open. When they are they never make enough food to stay open past 1pm for those who have a normal lunch break hour. Ribs tend to be really dry and low smoke flavor. Disappointed.
