The food quality even falls beow canned food from a grocery store. I had the guacamole for an appetizer which had a strong flavor to it that didn’t belong, I’m guessing some sort of perservative, it was edible but unpleasent. The chips served with the guacamole were obviously store bought. For an entree I had enchaladas, which were served lukewarm. with the cheese in the center unmelted, and sauce that tasted canned. I really believe I could have put together a better meal at home using pre-packaged foods from any grocery store. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the decor was almost charming – that was runied by horrible yelllow lighting.
My husband and I ate at Caliente for the first time last week. We are not big fans of southwestern food, but we both loved the food there. The ingredients are fesh! i mean FRESH…. It’s about time a restaurant serves up fresh food, not canned or frozen. The prices are very reasonable and our server was lovely. (She couldn’t pronounce Tilapia, but she was great) I reccommend this quaint place to everyone. Try it!
The beef was so salty it was almost inedible. I could easily make almost any dish on this menu at home and do a better job. Also found portions to be small and food very overpriced. I had a beef burrito and could not taste anything but saltiness, it was so overpowering. My companion had the fish taco, it was definitley not fresh fish as the menu states. It tasted just like any boxed frozen fish. The guacamole was ok but nothing special. Ambience is ok but feels so uninviting with the stark colors and the ungodly yellow lighting. Would never go here again nor recommend to anyone
Got there and took a back corner table with my son. We ordered drinks and some chips with hot salsa. The salsa had a pepper hotness to it, not a hot pepper but it was okay. Very few chips. Ordered our dinner. There was nothing fresh about it. I expected more I guess. It tasted like it was out of a can and laid on a plate and nuked. The service was so poor I almost left 10% as my complaint but I didn’t know if it was that we were in the corner and poorly dressed. Other people seemed to get service. We got to see our waitress when we ordered, when she dropped the food off and when she dropped the bill off. Never stopped by to see if we needed more drinks and the place was not busy. So I will have to tell my friends to nix this place off their lists. Too bad.
THE PLACE LOOKED NICE WHEN WE FIRST WALKED IN THEN WE WHERE SHOVED IN A BACK ROOM . THE SERVERS WHERE POLITE. tHEY GIVE YOU NO CHIPS ON THE TABLE AND YOU WAIT ALONG TIME FOR SERVICE THE FOOD FOR THE CHILDREN WAS TOO SPICY AND THE FAHITA’S CAME OUT WITH THE TINIEST WRAPS i EVER SAW. IF YOU EAT THE 3 LITTLE ONES THEY GIVE YOU BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR MORE. THE TACO SALAD WAS OVERPRICED FOR WHAT WE GOT. tHE OWNER WAS RUDE AND MADE A COMMENT TO A PATRON THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR. AND HE STARTED A ARGUMENT WITH A PATRON WHEN HE CHASED THEM OUTSIDE WHICH IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. MYADVICE IS TO GO TO THE BLUE CACTUS OR DON PABLO’S.
