I had my second meal here. The food is very authentic German. I had my German mother-in-law with us and she was thrilled. We shared several apps and deserts, and everyone had different entrees. The whole experience was great. The atmosphere has not changed forever, it is like a walk in a small place in the Alps. Unbelievable.
We went here the night we went in the area for an extended weekend anniversary celebration in retirement. It is definitely out of the way, but worth the trip. The food was excellent, the waiting staff attentive (then again, with only two tables it was perhaps not so hard). The best part (beside the food) was controversial with the people on the other table. It felt as part of a larger family this night. Oh, the last picture is Dessert- it didn't take long. Almost too many options to choose from, and do not look bad There is a wide range of appetizers and entrees. We started with the Shrimp Rosate appetizer, then moved to our entrees. My wife chose the scalopps while I had the Rouladen. They were both fantastic. For Dessert we both went for the chocolate Mocha cake, which did not last long. If you like German food, I also have some better meals in Germany. Total costs were just under $100 before the tip.
For many years has been fed in the area and never knew about this diamond in the literal grob until recently. When you arrive, feel like returning to a well-preserved German theme resort from the 1950s. The food is traditional German dishes that taste delicious. The mushroom soup was tasty, the salad with homemade dressing was tasty, the sour roasts with sparrow and red cabbage tasty, the almond cake was tasty. Wash dinner with old fashion taste soda that you need to mix before you drink it. Everything for a very reasonable price for good quality food. We will definitely go back.
The Forsthaus is a wonderful restaurant serving authentic German cuisine, along with creative alternative options. The food is delicious and definitely worth the drive. Ralph is a fabulous host and makes you feel welcome and right at home.
