Rooms were clean, but we did find someone’s personal item in one of the bedroom lockers drawers, not a great indication of a room cleaned. We had a walk in shower, my friends next door had a very small en-suite. The Bed was comfortable, but way too heavy duvet for the time of year, and it was that or a sheet....we had to tick off from a list for breakfast, decided to go for full Irish first morning. Sausages were not eatable, as very fatty, poor quality as were the black and white pudding!! My toast tasted funny and I thought it was the bread, but after trying different bread each morning I-realised it was the butter.. it was gone off in the heat, as was the milk. It was the same each morning! The following 2 mornings I just had the scramble eggs and mushrooms, which were tasty enough.
Cannot recommend highly enough. A beautifully restored destination right next door to the castle. Fabulous hospitality. Will definitely return.
My husband and I stayed here while down in Birr for a wedding at another venue. Spinners surpassed our expectations. The staff were so friendly and easygoing and helpful. The room was gorgeous and very quaint. I’m vegetarian and they went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I wanted for breakfast, even letting me know they were going to the shop the day before and could get me whatever I liked. Breakfast was lovely and service very efficient though we never felt rushed. Undoubtedly 5 stars! Will definitely stay here again if in Birr again.
Overall experience was very disappointing .My starter was tasty but on the small size. My main course Chicken Breast wrapped in Pancetta arrived without the pancetta and was tasteless. At the end of the meal i asked for an after dinner digestive for example limencello or zambuca, the waitress said she would check what they had. After a few minutes she came back and said they had nothing, zero options. Strange no? While the woitress was very friendly the service was not very professional. In two I paid €87 for a very disappointing experience.
Excellent meal in spinners courtyard. The courtyard is well setup for outside dining in the Irish summer. I had the scallops with black pudding for starter and it was perfect. For main I had the fish which was nice and light. My partner had the steak which had the perfect amount of sodium. In fact he even added more sodium to it. The meal was quite reasonable and great service
