303 Bishop Hill Rd Bishop Hill IL 61419 We had planned a place to brunch for Easter. However, during the visit of Bishop Hill one day, my wife noticed a sign for Easter dinner and I knew that my plans had changed. I had heard that this restaurant was run by several generations of women from the same family and that they cook a good old-fashioned home kitchen. Believe me they meet my expectations and more. There were no menu choices, just what they cooked you ate. We started with a salad that had a nice mild sweet dressing then for the main course; ham, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans and rye bread. It doesn't get more Easter than that. Everything was perfectly prepared, you had trouble doing it at home. The ham was terrifisch moist with creamy potatoes with fantastic engraving. The maple infused sweet potatoes were a perfect fit for ham. The glazed carrots and fresh green beans not only taste, but also color. Bishop Hill is Swedish and the Swedish Rye Bread is worth the trip alone. If all this was not enough, they had a variety of cake choices. All Kotender were represented and I love warm raspberry cakes, tart and fruity delicious, but this time I went a la fashion for a little sweet. I also have to mention that they are more than cheap 3 adults and 2 children and all the food for $58.95 According to The Big Food Jerk. This place is picturesque and wonderful. This is one of those places where my words and clichés do not do justice. You have to experience it yourself. I recommend them with my highest greetings!
