The Hop Black Mountain

We were in Black Mountain on a quick getaway! We took in a Basketball Game at Montreat College and wanted something sweet after. We headed just a short drive to get milk shakes from Hop! Absolutely amazing! The young man that was helping us was attentive to our needs, and prepared the most delicious milk shakes. Prices were reasonable and product was great. We loved the set up of the shop. We will definitely return!

Cute little ice cream shop with a few tables inside and outside. You can get scoops, cones, shakes, sundaes, all the usual. Plus they always have vegan/dairy-free ice creams available. The staff all do a great job and the shop is clean and bright.Vegetarian options: If you’re ok to eat dairy you won’t have trouble here. They might have special seasonal flavors with bacon or something unusual once in a while but most of their ice creams will be acceptable to vegetarians.Dietary restrictions: Dairy free options always availableParking: Street parking is usually easy to come buy unless it’s a busy time. Even then there is plenty on side roads throughout town and not too far to walk to The Hop.Kid-friendliness: Small portions available and most kids will find something they like.

Five of us walked into tThe Hop at 8:45 pm tonight Friday November 14th and the young man that was working behind the counter looked up at us and said We are closed . The sign on the door and the time on Google maps listed a 9 pm close time. I asked if he would see iv the five of us and he said NO, we close at 8:45 pm . Seeing this is the beginning of the off season in this area I feel this young man is doing a disservice to the owner of this business by turning away cash paying customers.

Delicious ice cream flavors and THEY HAVE GLUTEN-FREE ICE CREAM CONES! A GF ice cream cone is such a treat and welcome break from having to order cups/dishes of ice cream at most other places. I thoroughly enjoyed my two scoops of Shattered Glass ice cream (next time I will order one scoop because they are GENEROUS with their scoops).Dietary restrictions: they have gluten-free ice cream cones!!!

Chocolate milkshake was more like chocolate milk. Way too much liquid. Consistency is completely wrong. Server was really nice but she was the only one there and there was a large line so did not want to ask her to make it again. Expensive. Don't recommend the shakes.
