My husband and I enjoyed the environment. The guitar player was amazing. We order the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy glazed carrots. The breading on the chicken fried steak was extremely salty. It was so salty, we couldn't eat it. We ended up taking the breading off and just eating the steak itself. Everything else was good. We also enjoyed the Uptown Flatbread appetizer. It was very delicious.
When my husband and I moved to Blanco 1 1/2 years ago, we ate at Uptown weekly as the food was absolutely the best, especially the chicken fried steak. We visited one night and the food was not good (chicken fried steak) and the spaghetti. We let our waitress Ruth know and also spoke to a new manager (not Moses) and we were told there is a new chef. We waited several months and went back tonight to give another try and we were so excited to see Moses back and figured the food would be better with him being there. The chicken fried steak was nothing but thick salty breading and absolutely nothing to brag about, as we would in the past. The Brussels sprouts were amazing, but nothing else. So disappointed once again. We gave another chance but we won’t be going back. What use to be our bragging place for the amazing food, is now such a disappointment.
Been twice. Food is just ok. Some stuff really good. The atmosphere is awesome. Neat building. Bathrooms are awesome!!
Returned to Uptown Blanco Restaurant tonight. We were greeted by the manager, Moses. He was very friendly. The restaurant was fairly busy as it was Saturday evening. We ordered the polenta steak bites for an appetizer. They were flavorful and an interesting twist. Would definitely order again. Next up entrees. Crab cakes and chicken fried steak. They were tasty and generous portions. Live music rounded out evening for a relaxing and comfortable vibe. Uptown Blanco Restaurant is a very nice change of pace for our piece of the Hill Country.
