Stunning views and a lovely Bled (cream) cake- the coffee was fantastic and the staff were friendly- can’t wait to go back!
We had a fantastic eating experience here. We ordered 6 of the main courses (which is most of them) and shared, and all of them were excellent! Tasty, refined, with high quality ingredients and with some surprising combinations of tastes. The touristy aspect of the restaurant is just that it offers Slovenian cuisine and is at a tourist destination. Other than that this is a high end gourmet restaurant that does everything right. You need to make a reservation via phone several days in advance if you want to get a table. This also grants you free access to the Bled Castle (otherwise you have to pay for admission). Note that the castle is NOT wheelchair accessible. There is a very steep incline to get up to it and more stairs within the castle to get to the restaurant. My opinion totally worth it.
Very unfriendly stuff, awfull service for the guests visting castle from all over the world. Never felt prejudice before and was shoked to get such experience in such a place. Wanted to get a table received comment that they are fully reserved for tonight (none of the tables were occupied, less than hour till castle to be closed). After telling that we would like just to try local desert heard a comment that they serve only dinners. So why you have deserts on the menu card then? Why you make decisions who can get served in your restaurant or not? Worst experience in my life.
Definitely a lil rocky getting here. I asked the peopleat the ticket booth if there were any free seats at the restaurant for lunch and to help me call them because I had issues with my SIM. The guy was very rude and unhelpful, shrugging and insisting theres ‘nothing he could do’. Not even help make a phone call to the restaurant a few meters away. Luckily i managaed to borrow a friends phone and secured a seat at the restaurant. At first they (apolagetically) put me in the sun with a fantastic view, but it was unbearable hot. Luckily i was able to move into the shade later but i suggest putting a few umbrellas putting more tables as there was alot of unused space outside. There were only 3 servers and they seemed quite busy. The food, hence, took a while to arrive but the server was always very apologetic and kind despite the heat and hustle. The food itself is abit pricey (as expected for a tourist location), but worth! The small appetizer of bandelc has to be one of the best pastries ive eaten. The butter was so smooth and flavorful. The chilled tomato soup hit the spot on a hot day (10/10). The veal and hot goat was interesting! Definitely alot of contrasting flavors so my palette was definitely abit confused. I think it couldve done without the cranberry or the fruit as both offer a citrusy/acidic taste to cut thru the meat. (7.5/10). The cake was good! Came on the house as the waiter forgot it, which was a nice gesture (8/10) Overall, spectacular views and surprisingly good food and pleasant service for a tourist place. Just make sure to call and reserve
