It was quite bland, the chicken was greasy, the egg was overcooked, and the gravy lacked seasoning and was overly heavy. The waffles were good, but it's hard to mess up a waffle. Unfortunately, we’re likely not to come back.
The fried pickles here are the best I've ever had! The mac and cheese waffles and spicy chicken were absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend this place to anyone. If you're not familiar with Southern cuisine, this is the best I've encountered during my couple of years in Houston! Don't forget to try the deep-fried cauliflower appetizer as well—it’s incredible!
This is a charming little spot for a meal downtown. Our server was incredibly friendly and did her best to assist us. I had made a reservation and was seated immediately, but unfortunately, my friends opted to sit outside on the patio. It was beautifully decorated, and while it was nice at first, it became quite cold and windy as the sun set. When we asked our waitress if we could move indoors, we found out it would be an hour wait to be seated inside. She was really accommodating, even offering us a blanket, which I thought was a lovely touch. In the end, we decided to take our food to go so we could eat somewhere warm. The waitress was very kind and understanding throughout. My only suggestion would be to provide some heaters on the patio so that more guests can enjoy that space. Overall, it was a great experience with delicious food. I definitely plan to return!
Let me tell you I am from South Carolina, so I?ve had my fair share of southern food. On top of that my boyfriend is a trained chef.. This was some of the best food we have ever had! We were in and out in 45 minutes. Service was great and food was even better!! The fried chicken was perfect and delicious and the grits were incredibly creamy. If you love pickles I highly recommend the fried pickles for an appetizer. Not to mention it?s so hard to find good sweet tea in the north, but the sweet tea here was perfect!! We will be back!
We wanted to try this restaurant so we went for lunch. The place was almost empty, just a few tables were filled. Our waitress was quiet with no smiles but, she did her job. The food was okay. We both had chicken. My hubby said his chicken tasted like it cooked the day before. My chicken sandwich was hard and hard to eat. The macaroni and cheese was good but, not hot. The meal was fair but, nothing to write home about.
