We are first timers in Bologna and this was top of our list. Tried lasagna, great, tagliatelle ragu, dry, and vegetable of the day, yummy. Informal setting. English menu. Lovely choices. Explanatory placemat. You write your own order and pay upfront at the end. Nice restrooms, handicap accessible. A winner. Reasonably priced, too?
Food was excellent. Our choice was lasagna and ravioli with burratta. Wine is good as well. Staff is helpful, service is very good and authentic. Exactly what we expected.
We had a hankering for this place for 3 days! What a wonderful surprise and great place to eat. Excellent Pasta. Creatively made but within local tradition. The waiter Fabrizio from Brazil made great recommendations. The best of our 4 dishes were the Gramigna Salsiccia made from nettles and medaglioni black ravioli both amazing. Service was great. House Wine was great. Dinner was so good, we also ordered the lasagne to go. It was all worth it and a value for the price.
We arrived at Sfoglia Rina one evening around 8 pm only to learn that they were out of pretty much everything. We found another place to eat but decided we would return to Sfoglia Rina another day, but earlier. We did that, and we were happy to have done so. On our second trip, we arrived around 6 pm (it was a Saturday) and were seated right away. The waiter was friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere was casual we were in the big room with the large “communal” table but since we were only two, we took one of the smaller tables around the perimeter. We had the “per i curiosi”: two entrees, split between us. We chose the lasagna bolognese classic fare found everywhere here and the risotto with mushrooms cooked in sparkling wine, which we had not seen elsewhere. Both were fabulous. They were served with a roll that was nothing to write home about, and with roasted fennel in an orange and olive oil reduction (we think) that WAS something to write home about really delicious! The ambiance is informal brightly lit, and with paper placemats that are fun, and explain who they are, and how to order and pay. If you’re looking for someplace fancy, this is not it, but if you’re looking for someplace that takes pasta seriously, you’ve come to the right place, I don’t recommend waiting on line outside, especially in the rain, since they tend to run out of things. Based on other (unfriendly) reviews here, I’m guessing that’s also a time when the waitstaff are not at their best. Instead, find a more casual time and enjoy!
