We were travelling north and stopped at a caravan and motorhome club site about 3/4 mile from the Royal Oak Tibshelf. The Royal Oak has had a very obvious refurbishment and we received a very lovely welcome from the new owner. Good menu with plenty of choice, service was great and food plentiful. I had the sea bass tonight and it was really good, cooked to perfection. Red wine (I know it should be white! was excellent. Nothing to fault about meal and service and would definitely come back to this pub/restaurant. Footpath all the way to and from the campsite!
From entering with a group of 13 5 of which where children below the age of 7 years before 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. In which we where the largest party in the pub at 7.00pm on a Saturday. The children where playing (as 7 year olds do) in the extensive outdoors area as well as in the indoors (grab machine and pool table). There was complaints made about our children which we immediately dealt with however the landlord abruptly and rudely approached one of our party about. Which we did not appreciate the passive aggressive type of tone. (Quite down or you’ll be kicked out etc) On leaving the said landlord then approached us with again a passive aggressive tone as a party member defused the situation. Would highly avoid with children
A great addition to Tibshelf with new, friendly staff...a proper pub at last... Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
This place is newly opened. Fully refurbished and an enthusiastic patron. Very welcoming and great at creating a good atmosphere and events. I want to go back. It is early days and probably teething problems but the night we went we waited a long time for the food, and not so busy. There were about 20 of us and most meals were good but some were not e.g. the pasta options. I'm posting a review because I want this place to be the success it deserves. Food and service are the heart of a place.
