The ice cream I had was incredibly creamy. I sampled several flavors, and the staff member who assisted us was exceptionally helpful. I will definitely return. I'm thrilled to have discovered this hidden gem!
The ice cream sandwiches here are absolutely amazing! This small creamery truly excels in making high-quality ice cream, and I was even more impressed by the freshly baked cookies that made up my sandwich. Usually, I just go for scoops of ice cream at a creamery, but I couldn't resist the chance to have warm cookies as part of my ice cream sandwich. I chose the honey milk ice cream paired with chocolate chip cookies. The honey milk had a wonderful balance of sweetness and creaminess, perfectly complemented by the gooey chocolate chips. I highly recommend visiting on a Sunday to take advantage of their $4 ice cream sandwich deal—it's an incredible bargain! With warmer weather on the way, I definitely suggest this creamery to anyone in Boulder looking for a delicious cold treat!
During a business trip to Boulder, I found myself unfamiliar with the area and unsure of where to go for food. To make matters more challenging, it was Memorial Day, so many restaurants were closed for the holiday. I had a few local food and attraction maps, and both highlighted Heifer and the Hen. Their website featured a $4 milkshake special, which definitely caught my attention. I decided to try the Burnt Honey milkshake, marking my first experience with both vanilla and honey in a shake, and it was fantastic. I can't wait for my next visit!
Just like many unassuming places, Heifer and Hen is tucked away on a strip along Arapahoe. Except, the Ice cream Parlour is anything but. As you step into the Shop you are greeted by friendly staff in a warm rustic environment. Their menu is hand-written on butcher paper showcasing their signature and seasonal flavors. Of the many places you can grab a frozen treat, (Glaciers, Sweet Cow, Ben Jerry's, etc) Heifer and Hen stands out as one of the best in terms of their unique flavors. From burnt honey and squid ink with lemon to blackberry tamarind, their Ice cream goes beyond the basic palate of cookie dough or rocky road. Truly an exceptional experience, I don't think I'll be going to any other Ice cream in Boulder.
