Pokesdown Chippy - Bournemouth

This will be our last visit to this fish and chip shop. Since new owners have taken over, it has gone downhill. They are rude and arrogant to both their staff and customers. We have no complaints about the staff, only sympathy. We stopped in for a couple of large portions of chips and were told that they don't just do chips, so we would have to wait at least 20 minutes. If you don't want to be insulted and want decent food, I would recommend looking elsewhere. We have ordered food here multiple times, spending well over £60 on each visit for mediocre food. We definitely will not be returning.

The portion size of the fish was very small and the chips were overcooked, with some small, hard pieces mixed in, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. I would not recommend this place and do not plan on returning.

The restaurant has recently changed ownership, and it used to be our favorite fish and chip shop. However, this time, the meal was 25% more expensive compared to other local chip shops, and the portion of chips was smaller than expected. The fish batter was soggy and most of it was stuck to the paper. Overall, we found the portions to be small and the batter to be unpleasant. Due to the high prices and disappointing meal, we have decided not to return to this restaurant.

Great chippy, friendly staff. Chips and fish are really good and have been going here regularly for a while.

Been a few times now when I am working in the area. This is a fantastic place! Have gone from fish and chips to battered sausage and chips to cheesy chips and battered sausage and every time it has just been perfect. My last visit I was given some amazing hot sauce that complimented the meal. I like to come and visit to support when I am working in the area as the man there is extremely nice and very welcoming. This is something that has made me go back as when working in different areas I don’t always know too much around me. Visit if you can and support this fantastic chippy!
