Don't pay attention to any negative reviews, as our experience sitting in with two other groups of guests was nothing but delightful. The owner has a warmth about her that made us feel right at home. I've had my fair share of afternoon teas, and this one definitely takes the cake. The selection of proper cakes was impressive (no strange trifle pots here), and the portion sizes were so generous that even our family of big eaters left feeling satisfied. The sandwiches were plentiful and delicious. I had every intention of snapping some photos at the beginning, but our hunger got the best of us. The scones were incredibly light and crumbly. This hidden gem is a beautiful spot away from the hustle and bustle. We were able to find parking for free around the corner by a school.
We were told the day before our booking that we would only be able to stay for 1 hour 20 as they had a big booking after us. I personally feel the bookings should not have been made so close together. We felt rushed and had to wait quite a while for our food. The food was nice and the young lady serving us was lovely, but the lady in charge was rude and abrupt. Also the table cloth was dirty, the candle holder was covered in dust and everything looked a bit tired.
Tea was lovely food excellent but we felt very rushed and lady seemed rude and we were asked to leave as our time was up disappointing
I cannot believe how disrespectful they were. There are no other words to describe it. I would recommend avoiding this place unless you want to be treated poorly.
I love love love this tea room. We have visited 3 times now and always had a great experience. The food is SO tasty with the owner making all the cakes every morning (amazing! . The best scones I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few , sandwich fillings are generous and tasty. We are a no-pork household and the sausage roll alternative, a cheese and potato flaky pastry extravaganza, was served fresh from the oven and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Plenty of food provide for the table and free tea/coffee refills. It’s a tiny place with only a few tables so booking is essential. Well worth the walk up from the town centre/beaches to enjoy afternoon tea.
