However, the pizza and the dishes involving radicchio could use a bit of improvement. The menu mostly consists of pizza, so be sure to review it before visiting. Despite the limited options, a concise menu usually means that each dish has been perfected; although, we did find some to be slightly lacking in this regard.
While waiting for our food, the tantalizing aroma in the restaurant had us eagerly anticipating our meal. The blend of roasted vegetables and meats, along with freshly baked bread and a refreshing drink, transported us to a different world on that chilly winter night in Montana. When our food arrived, we were blown away by the quality. The bread was soft and chewy with a hint of wine flavor and a perfect crust. The pate was moist and flavorful, accompanied by pickled vegetables that added a lovely touch. The chicken leg was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and incredibly flavorful. And the pizza, although slightly charred on the crust, had an amazing aroma and taste that truly showcased what good food should be like. We already can't wait to come back and try more dishes from their menu.
I enjoyed my experience at Blackbird. The lasagna was outstanding and deserving of five stars on its own, but the pizza and radiatore could use some improvement. The menu was mostly focused on pizza, so it's a good idea to check it out before making a decision. I don't mind a limited menu if it means each dish has been perfected, but some of them fell just short of that mark. Overall, not bad, just room for fine-tuning.
We were skiing in Big Sky and decided to look for a good restaurant in town. This place came up as highly rated, but was fully booked for the week. I called and was advised to try walking in, as they reserve seats for that. We arrived at 8:30pm to avoid the rush, but it was still busy. The host informed us of a 40-minute wait, but mentioned that they extend hours for late arrivals, which was very accommodating. We thought it would be too late and decided to order takeout. However, the host was able to squeeze us in after a last-minute cancellation, which we were grateful for. We ordered duck liver pate, chicken leg confit, and a pepperoni pizza. The aroma in the restaurant was tantalizing, with a mix of roasted vegetables, meat, fresh baked bread, and herbs that made us forget about the cold winter night in Montana. The duck liver pate was amazing, with moist yet non-oily texture and a perfect blend of herbs, pickled red onion, and mustard seeds. The chicken and pizza were equally delicious, with crispy chicken skin and juicy meat, and a slightly burnt crust on the pizza that brought out the rich wheat flavor. We overindulged and knew we would be staying up late due to the delicious food. We will definitely be returning to try more dishes on the menu.
This might be one of the best wood-fired pizzas I have ever tasted. The ingredients are simple yet delicious. The pasta was also outstanding. I am definitely going back tomorrow.
