Completely blew my mind and opened a whole new world to me of chicken, a completely unexpected but awesome surprise, awesome value too damn now i'm hungry

Gave this place a go during the food trail and l thought they were great. The wings tasted great and was quite moreish. Great little snack options available and the service was fast given how busy they were.

Wow! Have not been back for over one year so should be the time to re explore. Approached the counter yesterday lunch time. The first thing attracted my gaze was the picture of pork chop bento. It should be a new item since my last visit because I was impressed this bento eatery only serves Taiwanese Fried Chicken Thigh so gave it a go. Service was very friendly and proficient. I watched their preparation for my lunch and much appreciate on the design of take away lunch box specifically for the pork chop bento. It was so surprise when I opened the box to discover the large two pieces of pork chop. They are well seasoned and tenderised. Together with the rice and cabbage, I am totally satisfied with this lunch box for only $13.80 Rating 4.5/5 May 02, 2018 When you walk put from the Golden Lane after your Yum Cha, you may realise that there is a little eatery adjacent to the Golden Lane restaurant. At the very beginning, I think it is one of the extension of Golden Lane to provide different varieties for take away besides its Dim Sim sell out during Yum Cha lunch. After I did some more research, then I realised that it is a new eatery, which focuses in serving Taiwanese style Fried chicken. Went to explore couple weeks ago. Besides some side dishes of Taiwanese sausage, mushroom pork ball, octopus ball etc. Their main focus is on serving different Bento with choices of chicken steak, popcorn chicken, mini drumsticks and drumsticks. Heard about the good feedback of its chicken steak so ordered one of the chicken steak bento. It did not take long to have the bento ready. It was not served in a Bento box but was separated in a container with vegetables and rice and a piece of chicken steak in a paper bag. Took a seat at the food court and started my food journey. Wow, it was not the generous portions of vegetables and rice made me surprised; it was the huge juiced chicken steak that made me yell out. The tenderised chicken steak was so juiced that I really wanted to go back and other another one. Definitely, it is a good deal to have such quality lunch only $11.80 Thumb up!

Service was prompt, food tastes great, but their business practices are highly fraudulent. The first time I went there and bought a Bento Box (fried chicken schnitzsel and chicken rice) I was given a Rewards Card and because the food there tastes great I had gone back there time and time again and bought the exact same thing. Each time they stamped my Rewards Card, but when it came time to redeem what I was supposed to be entitled to on the Rewards Card, they didn't want to honour their own rewards program (they didn't give me what I was entitled to) so out of all of the things that I should have received on the Rewards Card after having been there 10 times, the only thing that I had received was 1 can of coke (which was no.3 on the rewards card), they didn't honour the Free Snacks, Free Fried Food, and they ESPECIALLY didn't honour no.10 on the Rewards Card, which was supposed to be a Free Bento Box meal, each time I tried to redeem what I thought I was entitled to, they would stamp my card and then say, you can get it next time, except how can I get it next time, when they have already stamped my card, which indicates that the reward was honoured, even though it wasn't ? If they don't want to honour their own rewards program then they need to get rid of it altogether. I wanted to give this a rating of 0 but there is no Zero so I had to give it a rating of 1. Worst takeaway ever, never going back there again, I think I will go back to Vietnam Corner instead, where the food tastes great and the staff are extremely professional and you get exactly what you are supposed to.

TL;DR: Pretty straightforward with everything here, what possibly made the distinction to me for Bento King was the ardent and chirpy service. This was a new place when I went, so they were putting all hands on deck to ensure a good impression off the ground. That they succeeded in, and the food is pretty much honest and tasty fare. Good luck to this place. Opening right up in the center of the food court at Sunnybank Plaza, from the get go Bento King definitely deserves a second look upon the passing glance at the options put on display. Much like a lot of its competition, the perception can be that it is yet another fast food place that is all about the grab it and go idea given the hectic nature of the area ... and that patrons are there for something quick before the movie begins. Coming here all came down to taking things as I went, and was all by chance. The annual festival day had come to town, and most of the businesses around town were closed for the day. That had included mine, and after a bit of relaxing at home I thought on impulse to head off to the trusty Market Square for a couple of things first was the excuse in getting a bite to eat, and the second considered getting a couple of things needed to make dinner that night. No real place in mind was considered, just seeing it as it went as per aforementioned. What that something had to be was something that was just right. It could be eaten quickly, and with little fuss. It started off in Market Square, and after a big lap around it was right into Sunnybank Plaza which is surprisingly ripe with many options, and is Market Square's less flashy brother. Walking into the food court, a few places here would have done the trick. When it comes to customer service, hearing a lot and observing a fair bit from my housemate, I have become aware that there is a lot more to it than simply being all smiles, and managing to do the job by the book. Much of the great service that I have had from places of varying sizes and scopes often has had great attention to detail, done things that few places tend to do, and several other aspects that you pick up on over time. Such an aspect that elevates a place off the bat with customer service is how quickly the waitstaff react to apparent intrigue; that is said because it went like that here, and pretty much solidified that being the place to get a bite. What does work is that the folks here are pretty chipper. Smiles do attract clientele a lot faster, but the real pollen to the bee was when they noticed potential clients having a look at the place, and their menu. Upon that, they extend the sample plate out stating what the bite is, and that is a bit of salesmanship that can't always be used everywhere. Right here, it is a piece of arsenal that they have so far used well to their advantage. From that, I tried some pork dumpling which was tasty and there might have also being a bit of chicken offered on another one as well. Both tasted good, and are merely the beginning for what they have in store. Coming around to the ordering and collecting part of the service, a few kinks might be ironed out in the process, but nothing too major that I found. Having big menus there with the pictures certainly helps, and the process goes pretty quickly. After that, they give you a number and then you wait until the computerised voice calls out your number. Step up to the counter, present the ticket and pretty soon you are eating. A last touch that made it stand out, with the receipt that clients received upon their payment, that could be used at the adjacent bubble tea place to purchase a bubble tea. Hell yeah was I up to that! What could easily be said about Bento King already from the service aspects of it, was that the planning stage was done well in advance and made elaborate in the process. You have to be ahead of the curve around here; all described here is that defined. As for the aesthetics and everything, what you see is what you get. Don't forget the general location, and even in that it looks like a mere hole in the wall. Inside it a kitchen where the sounds and smells are perpetual, adding a rare of bit of atmosphere to the experience. As with many Taiwanese style take aways, the menu keeps it short and sweet. The majority of their product is centered around fried chicken, plus there are a few other kinds of finger food snacks on offer. They give out a few of the standards, and some of the more characteristic bites to even it out. Still in keeping it simple, more substantial meals are there in the form of meat and rice, plus bigger meals come in the likeness of the classic bento, and a big master box. On the drinks side, it ain't much merely a selection of the bottle beverages from the fridge. When it came to getting my meal, it was a combination of popcorn chicken, and chicken legs both which were served with pork rice, and a side salad that consisted of some tomato and some salad greens. As a bit of an extra, I also ordered some Taiwanese sausage. With the quality of this meal, I forgot I was in a food court and could picture myself in the middle of a Chinatown eating the same kind of fare that is a real compliment. More so specifically with the food itself, the chicken being the main star of the show tied it all together. The meat part of it was very good, with the flesh still being soft and tender, along with being really juicy essentially seasoning itself. Around all of that was a thick, and well seasoned coating. The rice was a simple concoction, mostly a steamed one with a small bit of seasoning mixed through to ensure good measure, and then combined with the pork mince. The mince itself was tender and good quality, and mixed into the rice, made a simple snack that would do well in the meantime. Last and not least is the sausage, in which was super juicy and must have been made from a robust cut of meat. One notable exception in my time being a gourmand, what I have found with Taiwanese cuisine is that it is one of the more laid back and rougher kinds of cuisine. Much of what I have experienced with it is street foods and quick bites plus bubble teas, and each and every time it had not being just good quality, but there was something unique about the way it was all prepared. At Bento King, that is still in place with some tasty fried chicken being merely the start. The food is good value, the portions are definitely filling and pretty well balanced out with all the ingredients. Being in the food court, being right at the foot of the cinemas, it is possibly the perfect place for Bento King to be quick, decent price, and filling.
