The Malt Shovel - Bradford

We've frequented this establishment regularly over the last 13 years and always found the service and quality of food excellent. However, we decided to call in for lunch today 21/6/23 , walked in and ordered drinks and were asked if we were eating, we said yes and drinks were brought to the table along with menus...After sitting there for almost 45mins without a waiter arriving to take our order we decided to leave ...I went to the bar to pay for our drinks and commented that we intended to eat but no one had come to take our order, it was at this point we were told there was no table service, Nowhere in the place does it inform you of that fact. Needless to say, today was our last visit.

We went for some lunch last Thursday and the food was spot on. Cannot fault anything, the service was fantastic (very cheery, attentive staff) and the pub itself is lovely and located in a great spot. We had been for a walk prior to having lunch and it was just what we needed.

During our vacation, we visited this restaurant with our two teenagers and our dog. We were seated at a cozy table next to the fireplace and were pleased with the diverse menu that accommodated everyone's tastes. The service was excellent, as evidenced by our four empty plates. Following recommendations from previous reviews, I opted for the steak and ale pie, and it certainly lived up to my expectations.

This was my first time at Malt Shovel and it was very crowded. The server who took our order was excellent and the food was amazing. I will definitely be returning next week.

I recently ordered a takeout Sunday Lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. It was still warm by the time we got home, and I highly suggest giving this unique concept a try. We will definitely be ordering again in the future, and I appreciated the minimal cleanup required afterwards.
