When I first entered, I was a complete stranger and the people there talked to me and tried to get to know me and share a little of myself. that was the first note that this place was more about the people, then the walls; which are covered in historical art advertisements that promote the rich history of local train services and community in large. the owners are friendly and treat them like family like patrols that go out of their way to watch their returns and share a smoke with them when they run short. you need to tap even if it is not necessary. skysports on tap with englands best behave also. they have great events in the week, cheep Thursdays, karokeee, bingo and other fun activities like free billiards on Thursday, double the ground to show up. the males are a mixture of seniors and youths that is unusual for a pub, it's popularity transcends age groups; I have one of the masters as my surrogate grandpa he 's called 'digger', and the owners/manager sue and her man (really cool guy also) were very spoken by customers of my engaged. they have a front and rear terrace for smoker and the view over the street is easy to eyes: the windhill manor, a charming old building. I tried to be other pubs in the opposite only fair and found them also to be of good quality, but nothing can measure up to the soul of the travelers rest, where after their second visit the young barkeeper will shake an empty glass under the hahn of their gunstbier, they invite to go in agreement as they go in the doorway. they are obviously trying to get to know their mules and treat them like family. that is the kind of pub that you can get old with!
