We had a rough draft of our experience at this location before we had even had the location open in Brantford. We had such a great time every chance we had to eat at Wimpy’s, so we were expecting greatness from our new location also. Sadly, I believe we were mistaken.<br <br Our trips to Ancaster were made better by visiting Wimpy’s, it is a convenient location and we would always be guaranteed a fantastic meal. It has an authentic 50’s diner feel, with old tin signs to cover the poorly painted bright blue walls and sparkly red seats. There’s a lot of booths available, which really is what everyone wants. Even though this restaurant is often busy, it is a quiet environment with tall booths and always clean. We have found multiple waitresses showed genuine interest and conversations with the guests without being intrusive. The obvious diligent waitresses keep the restaurant spotless even with so many decorations to keep up on. <br <br The menu is nice, lots of pictures and this seems standard to any location. We’ve agreed that nothing is misrepresented on the Wimpy’s menu, everything has a homemade feel to it. There’s so many options, it’s hard to pick what to choose from. Offering all-day breakfast is fantastic, but there were a lot of differences between the new locations menu and the choices in Ancaster. I don’t understand why regular bacon seems to be missing from the Brantford menu and my personal favourite menu option, lasagna. But beware; the Coke Zero is a lie! As told to other patrons by their waitress, “It’s really just diet Coke”. How did these two restaurants become so different?<br <br The Brantford location really leaves something to be desired. Generally looking thrown together with poor paint jobs and unevenly hung light fixtures, this place seems cheap and didn’t set the standard like the other location does. This location has only been open for a month and already there was filth all over the chrome edge of the table and on the booth. I contemplated leaving my mittens after I dropped them on the floor, which was covered is discarded lettuce and food wrappers stuck to the floor. The tin signs are tacky and are mostly sexually suggestive. Which also describes the nature of conversation often had by the waitresses, who also couldn’t care less if we disliked the food served to us when she non-chalantly asked us over her shoulder, or when we left more than half our plates uneaten. Even the parking lot suggests for less than 20 people to be in the restaurant at one time.<br <br The food has incredible value at Wimpy’s, especially with their breakfast options. Everything has a decent price and you get large portions. You can spend less here and get more food than many other restaurants and they have quality ingredients, including real turkey offered in almost everything. Wimpy’s is known for their hamburgers, which are large and oblong in shape. They are tasty but nothing really special, plus it’s easy to fear it being undercooked. I ordered the chocolate milkshake and even though I am lactose intolerant, I felt great and it tasted like heaven. The Brantford location served us food that wasn’t even warm and made us feel sick halfway through but the Ancaster location leaves us feeling full and satisfied. In general, their coleslaw is lackluster. I look forward to coleslaw because it is different almost everywhere you go, Wimpy’s coleslaw is watery, stringy and the only thing offered in many combos. Our onion rings were warm on the outside with cold onions inside even though we ate them first, it was like all the Brantford location has to cook with is a microwave.<br <br Taking everything into account, we highly recommend going to Wimpy’s in general while we agree the Brantford location has to improve on many areas. We acknowledge this location is new, but they really need to get it together. We can see the difference a few diligent staff members make, and maybe a chair or two for those who want to take their food to go. Don’t get us wrong, we are more than willing to give the Brantford location another chance but trust us when we say the Ancaster location is worth the drive. The food is great and the service is exactly what you should expect from a place that serves you food. We always have a great time and look forward to our return visits.<br <br -Quick-RR<br Price Range: $3-$20<br Cleanliness: 9 (Ancaster) 2 (Brantford)<br Atmosphere: 8 5 <br Menu Selection: 10 8<br Service: 9 4 <br Food Quality: 10 4<br Overall Experience: 9 4.5<br What we’ve ordered: Poutine, Wimpy’s Famous burger with bacon and cheddar. Great food. Last night (January 8, 2014), I visited Wimpy's, The food here is great. I was very satisfied with my order. Although the restaurant does have a few problems. Hopefully they'll get it straitened out. One of the most prominent problems was the furnace, which when I asked about it they told me someone was coming in next week. Let's hope that's true because that was the biggest disadvantage of the resturant.
5 STAR once again Wimpys!! Every time I come back to town to visit my family I make sure to have breakfast here. Today, it was with my beautiful niece service and food were amazing as always! Really appreciate places like this! See you next time I come home
This Wimpy's had a good breakfast, hot coffee, and great staff. My only reason for not giving a five star review is that it felt like every couple of minutes a different member of the staff would come over and ask if everything was good. It was a little much and conversation was a little more difficult when we kept being interrupted. I would suggest only one wait staff address each table. Otherwise, a great breakfast spot
Cute diner with friendly staff, surprisingly good food and decent prices. A great quick stop from a nearby freeway if you want a break from driving and a bite to eat. Beats the rest stops offerings of fast food.
