The baked goods were absolutely scrumptious and clearly made with top-quality ingredients. The donuts, both fried and cake, were cooked to perfection—fluffy, buttery, and packed with flavor. The icing was delicious and expertly done, adding to the overall taste. I also appreciated the extensive menu options available. The prices were fair, and the portions were generous. Overall, I highly recommend this bakery to anyone in search of a tasty and fulfilling breakfast or snack.
We have been visiting Century Bakery for more than 40 years, but the experience over the last couple of years has been disappointing. The cakes, cupcakes, and donuts are often stale and never fresh. The staff members are unfriendly, and the bakery itself is not well-maintained. I'm sure the Ernest family would be disappointed to see how the bakery is currently being managed.
Is this really what Century Donuts calls an éclair? Ever since the new owners took over, their baked goods just aren’t the same. I’ve consistently received stale, hard donuts. Recently, during Easter, I bought Easter Bunny donuts and éclairs, and the filling in the éclairs was barely there. You would expect them to put some filling in the ears and face, but as you can see in the picture I posted, there’s hardly any filling at all. I purchased a donut today around 4 PM, and it had almost no filling and was as hard as a rock. You could hear the crunch when I cut into it. I think I’ve lost a customer, as I keep giving them chances, but the results are always disappointing. Century Bakery used to be the best, and I’m so let down.
However, I have to express my disappointment, which is why I’m only giving a three-star review: they NEVER have the fried donuts. During my last four visits over the past few months (and I live 45 minutes away), they’ve consistently been out of fried donuts. It’s incredibly frustrating. If you’re known for a particular item and actively promote it, you should be prepared with enough inventory to meet customer demand. I could understand if I arrived close to closing time, but I’ve been there between three to five hours before closing, only to be told, “I’m sorry, we don’t have any left.” My usual puzzled response is, “You don’t close for another three hours—how can you be out already?” I’m then told I can place an order and come back another day, but honestly, I don’t want to have to do that. As a former local and restaurant manager, it baffles me that they don’t keep sufficient stock of this popular item. If you're going to promote something, you need to anticipate higher demand and adjust accordingly to ensure you’ve got enough to satisfy your customers, especially for something people will specifically come for. Unfortunately, I keep leaving frustrated, disappointed, and empty-handed.
I am very disappointed to be leaving a two star review but it is necessary. I love this bakery and have mainly gotten the product from the school I teach in. This was the first time I ordered for myself and they are not very attentive to theircustomers. Most importantly the two stars that I am leaving are not because of the product. I ordered 24 cupcakes and cinnamonrolls. The product itself tasted delicious. Although, I ordered two colored cupcakes for an order I planned to pick up on theway to work. When I got there the order was not there. They had to rush to ice cupcakes and they were extremely messy and NOTwhat I ordered. Another problem was the process of ordering. Online the website says you can call or send the order in anemail. I tried calling twice and got a voicemail that says to call back. So I sent an email with my order. I got a message backsaying I have to ?call the store and talk to one of the girls?. Why does it say I can order by email if they say I have to call?I called again, no answer. This was during business hours. Finally, I got an answer after all of that and placed my order whichmade no difference because they did not have it ready when I went to pick it up. I am so disappointed by the lack of service. Idon?t care how good the product is, if you have lousy customer service, I will not return.
