Below 7 Lounge Bar - BRISBANE CITY

A group of us, from out of town, booked on a Friday night to avoid a noisy environment (we are on the older side). The booking was fine and the service excellent but....The atmosphere is bland, the food is expensive and nothing that remarkable. The menu appeared limited for the upmarket prices.It's never a good sign when vegetables and other sides are 'extras'. Hubby pretty much just had a big pork chop on his board. The steaks were tender and tasty but the duck was over-cooked. The waiter offered a free dessert as compensation for the disappointing duck - a lovely offer, accepted and enjoyed.The wine is also high end.We should have stuck with bar food in the atrium

We arrived on time for our lunch reservation. The restaurant was almost empty. The pleasant waitress arrived promptly and took our order quickly. We ordered the lunch special of two courses. 20 minutes later a group of about 20 arrived and were quickly served their pre-arranged lunch. We waited and waited. No explanation for the delay. After 40 minutes we asked for the Manager who politely informed us that the kitchen had our order but had not filled it. Another 15 minutes and the meal arrived. The food was actually good. But the experience had been spoiled by the long wait. Though our complaint about the wait was well-handled by the manager, the problem appears to be poor management in the kitchen.The restaurant is in the rather stark hotel lobby and there is little pleasant ambience.Do not go here unless you have at least two hours for lunch!

Good solid service from wait-staff. Although it take an inordinate amount of time for a diet coke to arrive.My eye fillet was cooked to perfection - rare as requested. My husband truly enjoyed his pork cutlet, which was complimented very nicely by the chive and cream sauce.Wine prices were on the high side; $17 for a Cloudy Bay Sav Blanc is rather expensive. At least the wine was served at the table, this is a very nice touch and something that I would like more restaurants to adopt.i also found the trendy, strangely shaped flatware odd - it did not sit well in my hand, not the hand of my husband - who am I to argue with fashion.All that aside, we are likely to return, as the city location was very handy.

Chose to eat here when staying at the hotel. Excellent choice , steaks were first rate and a comprehensive wine list, including half bottle options. Recommended!

I expected better. But for the high price of this place, certain things did not go right:1) My Roo fillet was supposed to be Medium but it came out Well done and tough.2) My friend's eggplant side did not arrive - the kitchen missed it3) It took a loooong time for the food to arrive4) It took a looong time for the bill to arrive.I won't be back.
