Eagle Street Pier offers a good selection of options from very affordable, family friendly, to fine dining. We chose Fratelli Famous Pizzeria for the ease of gluten-free bases, choose-your-own-toppings and eat-in or take-away. Prices are very reasonable for the generous serves - the small pizza was more than enough for my fellow diners who each built their own pizzas. The bases are a sourdough mixed onsite, left to prove for 48 hours. When we visited, they'd just finished mixing a new batch for later in the week - yum! The ovens seem to be woodfired, as you'd expect these days, and if you look carefully, you can see the yeast in the dough grow in response to the heat - all the stuff bakers love to watch! This is real science in action :) Ingredients are sooooo fresh and tempting: 'he' chose olives, pineapple, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, tomato paste/sauce and loads of mozzarella. I didn't quite catch what our visiting friend chose - I was too busy chatting and catching up!The extensive menu offers sweet and chocolatey dessert pizzas and calzones, and there are cool non-alcoholic beverages. No coffee at present (coming soon, I believe). Service is quick, efficient, smiling and skilled. Note: gluten free available BUT semolina dust is all over the food prep area. If you're especially sensitive you might want to choose somewhere else. It was great that staff were aware enough to mention this.
My wife and I have been here twice for dinner with friends.I love concept of build your own pizzas and they have very good bases and well as choice of toppings. We got everything we wanted the first time we went. The second take which was about 7 pm on a Friday evening they were running out of toppings so our choice was limited. Depending on who you get making your pizza's the service can be a little slow and sometimes the topping might not be spread thoroughly enough over the whole pizza. They have beer on tap and gelato if someone wants dessert. We would go again.
We shared a Meat Inferno pizza & the Fire Roasted Chicken pizza but my favourite was the Meat Inferno. Also tried both of the Italian craft beers, The Vixen of Venice & the Bella Birra and loved both. I want to go back & try the veg pizzas now!
The team is not really organized. I came here for lunch and 5 more people were waiting in front of me. It took them 25 minutes to take their orders and making the pizzas. After 30 minutes it was my turn! The pizza was ok, service friendly.
I tried the chorizo pizza and it was delicious. It was a great combination and not too heavy on the ingredients. The service was friendly and the venue was trendy, hip, and clean.
