We went for breakfast at Place of Stones. It is hidden away in the Taringa suburb, but is obviously very popular with the numbers there for breakfast on Sunday. I would advise you to book a table if you are planning on breakfast or any meal. The staff were friendly and the food was easily one of the best breakfasts we have had in Brisbane suburbs. On the occasion we visited, I enjoyed the Welsh Rarebit, while my husband enjoyed the chicken schnitzel. Lots of magazines and papers available to enjoy with your morning coffee too if you are so inclined.
Hands down one of the best breakfasts around. Great coffee, friendly service and a good array of papers and magazines for a leisurely breakfast. The consistency from the kitchen is what keeps us going back. One thing that continually lets them down is they clear the plates as soon as a person is finished even if the other party is still eating. Drives me nuts every time. Haven't eaten dinner there before but the takeaway pizzas are great too.
6 of us went to dinner....we ordered a couple of entrees to share and 4 pizzas to share which was ample. The service was friendly and efficient. We weren't kept waiting long between courses. The food, especially the pizzas were most enjoyable. Fresh and tasty toppings. Good value for money. The atmosphere was busy as it was an almost full house, but the staff seemed to be on top of things. Would definitely go back.
This little eatery in the Brisbane suburb of Taringa seems to have gotten lost in time. The décor and music is like something out of the 1960s. While eating you can enjoy TV shows like 'Welcome Back Kotter" or the movie "Grease," or listen to oldies from The Beatles or Patsy Kline. Add to the wonderful atmosphere the fact that the food and service were outstanding, and you have a top tier winner. My wife and I had breakfast here on Easter Saturday because it was close to our accommodations and was well rated by other reviewers. We enjoyed the place so much, we returned for dinner. Would likely have returned for breakfast and dinner on Easter Sunday, but the place closed for the holiday. As other reviewers have mentioned, the menu selections are many and varied. The pancakes were excellent for breakfast as was the Welsh Rarebit egg dish. For dinner we had the Mushrooms & Spinach Penne and the Bolognese on Spaghetti with an order of the Herb & Garlic Turkish Bread. All were served hot and fresh. The wait staff do an excellent job of tending to all of the tables even when the place is full of patrons. As others have mentioned, there is seating both inside and out. Outside seating is comfortable as there is very little traffic along the fronting street. They accept reservations, and I would recommend making one if you plan to arrive during a normally busy dining time as the seating is fairly limited.
