The Cajun trout didn't taste very Cajun, and the Moroccan chicken didn't taste very Moroccan. The desserts were mediocre - the Pavlova was solid with no wobble, and the bread and butter pudding was dense and not layered or moist. The glass of sparkling wine was not very fizzy. It was our 50th Anniversary present and we were disappointed with the experience. The service was also slow, with other customers who arrived after us being served before us. Our visit was on Wednesday, January 22nd.
Our experience was good overall, as we celebrated my friend's birthday at this restaurant. As a vegetarian, I would have liked to see more variety in the sandwich options. The combinations of lettuce and cucumber, lettuce and tomato, and red and yellow peppers felt a bit unoriginal. There are plenty of other delicious ingredients that can be used in sandwiches besides meat.
Our experience at the restaurant was fantastic, made even more memorable by my request to have the cake stand plates decorated with birthday wishes. The sandwiches were fresh and a good selection was available. The scones and cakes were all delicious. However, the breakfast tea bags did not have a good flavor and the tea tasted stewed quickly. We had to ask for multiple pots of tea, which resulted in some wastage. Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea experience and the service was excellent. The staff at the hotel were also very helpful.
Exactly where I wanted to bring my family for a birthday dinner. We had a lovely evening. Thanks
We went for afternoon tea at 2.00 pm. While there there was another table with 2 people and a further 2 joined later. The waiting staff were attentive, polite and friendly. Unfortunately there was very little “atmosphere”, no background music or entertainment of any kind. This was booked for our wedding anniversary but it did not feel like much of a celebration. The sandwiches were fairly poor being white sliced bread with mostly tasteless fillings. On the plus side the tea and coffee was good.
