I think I was looking forward to going here so long that when I finally did it just wasn't as exciting as I had hoped. I wasn't a huge fan of the drinks and just wasn't thrilled with the atmosphere overall.
The outdoor space was a nice touch for Brooklyn. However the food....what can I say...it was honestly not worth the price. The only items that were worth it was the octopus. As for everything else, there was no salt in anything. We ordered garlic fried rice, kimchi fried rice, edamame, chicken wings, and octopus. Literally nothing had salt. The saving grace was the sauce that comes with the octopus.
This restaurant was a delightful experience. It features an open kitchen, and the tables are well-spaced, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The first floor houses a clothing store, and we took the elevator up to the third level to reach the dining area. The ambiance was softly illuminated, making it a very relaxing setting. After we placed our order, we enjoyed watching the chef at work, which was fascinating, especially since it’s not a typical sushi bar. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. We tried the ahi tuna, Korean fried chicken, tintenkimchi fried rice, black cajau, and Isla Jeju drink. The entire dining experience was outstanding, and we highly recommend this place!
This is a fantastic spot for a date night or a fun evening with friends! The spacious layout features a trendy bar area and a lovely outdoor deck. I'm definitely a fan of the Korean-inspired bar scene here!
East Hae really took me by surprise between the ambience, service and delicious bites they really provide a top notch experience. When you arrive take the elevator up to the roof (or the stairs if you're feeling ambitious). They have a large airy green space with a covering during rainy/cold days that makes for a hip and trendy ambience. At this point you really don't need a reservation as there is plenty of space. They have a great menu of cocktails including the huchi which was a spicy tequila based drink that perfectly complimented the kick of the dishes. Speaking of which apparently they just got a new chef who previously worked over at Osamil and his menu is bomb! Every single dish was phenomenal. My favorites were the squid fries (similar to fried calamari) that came with a gochujang and soy wasabi dips. SO good. We also loved the oysters fresh, juicy and also with a gochujang-based cocktail sauce that we loved. Other standouts included the steak tartare and the bossam (delectable I was so impressed by this menu and, as a Korean, my standards are high for modern Korean food. But in addition to the food, what really made the experience was our waiter Dorian. He was THE BEST. From beginning to end he was so welcoming and nice and gave us great guidance on the menu. He made sure that our drinks were full and the food came out at a great pace. I can't say enough good things about the service here. Overall, this place is a total gem. The ambience, food/drinks, and the service really make it a perfect place for a group of friends. Highly recommend.
