The staff were welcoming and friendly and the dinner itself was very tasty. We especially enjoy the separate dish of vegetables and the extra gravy. I have the small roast and my husband has the regular plenty for both of us. I just hope we can get a table next time after leaving a good review !
SO disappointing! When we arrived and said we had a table booked, the table was just pointed out to us. We sat down, but no one brought menus or took a drinks order. After at least 20 minutes one of our party queued at the bar, and when it was his turn to be served was told to sit down and someone would come over. Another 15 minutes went past, then my husband stopped a waitress and asked if we could order drinks. He was told very brusquely that someone would come soon. At this point we would have had our drinks if he'd been allowed to order at the bar, but no, another 15 minute wait. Another waitress spotted that we didn't have menus, so finally brought us some. We had booked a table for 6pm as we had young children with us, but it took so long to order food and drinks, we were there much later than planned. I chose sea bream and saute potatoes, but received sea bream and boiled new potatoes, and when I questioned it, someone eventually came back and said they were saute potatoes (like none I've ever seen or would want I left them). I know it was the time of year, but the place was taken over by huge Christmas parties, which was never mentioned when we booked. Our table was in the bar, so we were surrounded by people standing and drinking, and the noise level was unbearable. When I booked, I said it was for a special birthday, and my son even brought a table decoration with us, so it was obvious what we were celebrating, but no one said a thing about it or tried to make our experience special. We felt like an inconvenience, as obviously they only cared about the Christmas parties. Sadly, this is not my first visit to the Falcon Hotel, but it will be my last, especially as having eaten at another restaurant in Bude the night before where the food was superb and we were treated very well. I know where I will eat in the future.
Poor menu choices. Good waiting time. No complaints about the staff they were heroes. Bar was clean and table adequate. Very badic not for special occasions. Probably wont return.
We had been coming to the falcon for around 5 years , we love the falcon and the staff were always great . The last two times the food has lost its standards dramatically which is such a shame . I the veg is over cooked where before you would have a selection of nice veg in a dish . There was a couple that had been waiting an hour for food but I noticed other people that come in after them had there meal before . Rightly so they complained and left . The amount of times I was asked my staff is everything ok or if we want the dessert menu I could not count , we was actually had a conversation with people on the next table as they got asked more than us . I did not recognise any of the staff that evening which was also a shame as the usual staff were amazing and could not do enough and you get asked once if you’re ok and get left to enjoy your evening. Huge shame I hope things perk up for the falcon and get standards back .
Excellent food and service yet again, can highly recommend
