The Gate Inn - Burton upon Trent

I visited with friends for a catch-up and a bite to eat! The prices were very reasonable, ranging from £10 to £20 per person. I would rate the food a solid 5, the service was also excellent at 5, and the atmosphere was nice, getting a 4.

I took my wife for a couple of drinks in the garden today to enjoy the sunshine. Unfortunately, we were disturbed by a group sitting in the middle of the garden who were swearing, shouting, and making homophobic remarks towards a gentleman they seemed to know. Regardless of their relationship, that kind of language has no place in a public house garden. I've lived here for over two years and have been a regular at this pub since the beginning, but I have to say it now attracts some very undesirable clientele. Additionally, drink prices are significantly higher than at the neighboring pubs. Overall, I would rate the service a 3 and the atmosphere a 1.

Went in on Saturday, food was excellent as was the service. The landlord and land lady were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. There was a disco on later in the night and the atmosphere was brilliant, the music was just the right level and the locals were friendly and a good laugh. Will definitely return.
