Star House Restaurant - Cache Creek

Average prices, large servings. For what most Westerners are looking for in Asian food, this is it. Buffet is kept replenished with smaller, frequent batches, even when the place is packed, which keeps everything fresh tasting. For a little more spice and complex flavours, try the Chef's Special menu items. What makes the Star House outstanding, is the warm and personable service. These waitresses make me feel welcome, every time I walk in! They really go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable :-)

While I visiting in the area my hosts decided they had a craving for Chinese Food. They both told me that it was excellent food here. One of them told me that he frequented Vancouver's Chinatown on a regular basis and that the food here is as good as any that he had there. Having eaten in both Vancouver and Winnipeg's Chinatowns many, many times, I was expecting the real McCoy. WRONG!!!! I won't actually go into the details, but I will say that the closest thing that came to meeting my expectations was the Prawns in Black Bean & Garlic Sauce. It had the right flavour, but was just too weak. The other two dishes were virtually flavourless!! If you prefer or are accustomed to Chinese Food that is drastically North Americanized....this place is for you. If your precious experiences lean towards authentic Chinese food.....you'll be very disappointed. The ingredients were all there, but sadly no flavour what so ever. The prices were consistent with the area and the amount of food received.

They have a buffet or you can order from the menu. Very limited selection of dishes. We did order from the menu, but I think we should have had the buffet. Service was slow and the food so so. The Kung Pao Chicken wasn't spicy (I like a little bit of spice) and had very little chicken. The Hot & Sour Soup had the right amount of spice and was much better than the Kung Pao Chicken.

One of the better places to grab a meal at, Starhouse make a great tofu dish (I know I know only I like Sweet and Sour Tofu lol) and the whole family can find a favourite to enjoy.

Realy good i ate there on both goin south and comin north They had a great smorg on Friday and friday nite. I was impressed with the service verry quick and the food was basic but delicious. We will go again ????
