Stopped in the Old Village Cafe this past weekend after 9 holes at the local golf course. It was a bit early for the pub to open (pub food), so right next door is this cafe. There was about 10 tables in this small cafe, but it was very nice, and apparently a favorable eating spot for the locals. My wife and I shared a Clubhouse sandwich and fries, and even sharing was enough for both of us. That was a full meal deal sandwich packed with meats, bacon, tomato, onion, on Multi-grain bread. Apparently they serve breakfast right into the day if you are a late sleeper. There was just the one server who was kept busy, but very friendly. So, if you're not in a rush, try a lunch at the Old Village Cafe. Good food, and friendly people.
I was really hungry and craving a burger so I went to try the food at the only restaurant open on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the deluxe burger with bacon and cheese. It took forever to come and when it did it was missing the bacon. I sent it back to the kitchen and when the waitress returned with it, she almost threw it onto the table. The bacon looked like it had been sitting around, half cooked and was just thrown on top. The burger itself was overcooked, shriveled up and dried out. The only redeeming factor was the mountain of French fries that was on the plate, although by this time they were ice cold. I took two bites of the burger and left the rest. The waitress never came back, when I went to pay, she never asked me how the food was and when I said that it was the worst burger I had ever had, she didn't offer any apologies, just took my money and walked away. I will NEVER be back.
Stopped in here about 7 pm , tired and hungry after a day of geocaching. no one else in the place made us kind of nervous . There was only one waitress , she seemed more tired than us. Very slow to bring us menus and coffee and refills. The food was good and very generous portions.. I had an interesting Greek Alfredo, with enough left over for a good lunch the next day. Garlic toast was thick and crispy. my friends all enjoyed their meals as well. Other came in later just for pie, it looked homemade.
The food here is pretty basic. We only ate the breakfast there when we visited. We each had the fruit bowl and some toast and the fruit was fresh and the toast was good, but you can't go wrong with toast. We had been there two years ago as well, and what struck me was the increase in prices. I don't think the prices reflect the value.
