There wasn't much meat on the bones to justify paying €25 each for what would have been less than half the price in any local restaurant. Nevertheless, the service was impeccable and it was certainly better to overpay for this meal than to have risked our lives driving elsewhere in the pouring rain!
Staying at Pousada Canicada? Then have dinner in this lovely inn with the spectacular view of Geres. Although more costly than the restaurants in town (Geres , the food was very good. The chicken gizzard starter very tender and in a nice broth. For main course we had the special grilled goat (25 euros per person . The dessert buffet for 8 euros is worth it if you love your sweets. (Nice variety of desserts and fruits . The bread that was served at first could have been better they should offer the Broa that is locally handmade. (There actually is a woman making her own Broa for sale in a small house just down the road.
We stayed four days at the Pousada Caniçada Geres's and ate twice at their restaurant. the restaurant is fantastic. It has a wonderful view and serves a wide selection of fine Portuguese cuisine. There is a good selection of wines, and the service is top notch.
Lovely spot, lovely staff, food was tasty but cold. Even after being sent back it reappeared warmer but still with frozen parts. What a shame.
Worst possible service. We book a table for a group. We were hospeds at the Pousada. We were informed 1h before the table that the reservation was cancelled. Result: we were not able to book another restaurant that night in time. Suggestion: Consider another restaurant
