We went to Happy Veggie House on a Tuesday evening around 7:45 (they close at 8) and they were still happy to serve us. We got an order of the fried stuffed tofu and a order of the gluten in the curry, sweet and sour and bbq flavour. Brought it home and made our own rice to eat with it and it was perfect. Although it doesn't seem like much, and it is meatless, it still fills you up. We will always be a customer here. They also offer different stir fries and noodle and rice dishes. Cash only establishment.
Came with my uncle for lunch and had amazing food for an amazing price. There were so many great flavours and limitless options to chose from. We both chose 2 entrees with the choice of rice or noodles with soup and a spring roll. The workers were generous enough to let us try more than 2 entrees and I'm glad they did because everything I tried was delicious. I can't wait to come back!
Came here to grab a lunch to go with my co-workers. First to say, the portion was huge. I could not finish it all by myself. A lunch combo comes with a soup, spring roll, rice and two choices. I picked the original 'dough ' and some veggies. It all tastes really good. Definitely something in mind if you are in rush on your lunch time.
This unassuming little eatery is inside a strip mall (City Plaza) in Chinatown. I have seen it changed ownership a few times, but so far it looks like they 're here to stay! I think most people come here for their lunch combos, but they actually have a full menu which sadly to say, I haven 't tried yet. I usually just come by to grab a lunch box to go you can choose steamed rice or fried vermicelli, plus two or three items on the 'buffet ', plus their soup of the day and a spring roll two items will set you back $7.95 tax or three items will be $8.95 tax. Their selection is slightly different every day, but they always have the marinated gluten (in different flavors) and you can get those by the pound. I like the variety and everything tastes so good! One day I will try their offerings off the full menu, or maybe I 'll call ahead of time to order as their dishes are made to order so it 'll take some time. If you haven 't tried Chinese vegetarian food before, this would be a good place to start. Do note that they 're cash only and does get pretty busy!
Winner winner, tofu dinner. Perhaps I should mention the bad first. Happy Veggie is in a mall, so it seems like a food court restaurant, with some sad looking dishes on heat trays, and next to zero ambience. I almost left, but the very friendly owner came out, gave us menus, and seconds later brought out a pot of tea, and I sat down and relaxed. We ordered off the menu and all dishes were made fresh and piping hot. All dishes here are vegetarian and most are vegan, but carnivores won 't miss the meat. We loved everything, but the veggie dumplings were the best. Ginger 'beef ' was tasty, deep fried wonderfulness. Really good singapore noodles, and decent but slightly bland tofu eggplant hotpot. All dishes I will order again. We 've been looking for a new Chinese restaurant and this is it. At time of posting, they only take cash, and no delivery, but there is take out.
