Manies Pizzaria & Greek Cuisine

Was up in Calgary in a hotel and did not want to go out. Ordered a vegetarian pizza with pepperoni and it was delivered to my room in no time. It was the best I had in a long time with a lot of toppings and lots of cheese.

My friend and I frequently have lunch on Sundays at Manie”s. The pita souvlaki is always delicious with the pita being plump and fresh and the Greek salad a lovely mix of fresh veggies, feta and olives with a light but flavourful dressing. It is a bargain at $11 for a nutritious meal of quality ingredients. The chicken parmigiana is a generous serving and also delicious. Service is excellent and very personal.

We ordered supper to be delivered to our hotel which was just about 4 blocks away. The order came in a timely manner and the delivery guy was very chatty and friendly. The food, on the other hand, was very over priced for the amount you got, and not very hot and not anything like the Greek that we 've had in the past. We 'll definitely try somewhere else the next time we stay in Calgary.

We were looking for a new place to try on 17th Ave. This restaurant did look inviting from the outside. Once we walked in the door we looked around no indication that we had to wait to be seated so we picked a booth near the windows. There were only 2 other tables occupied. A few minutes later we had a waitress come over. I'm not sure if she spoke much English but no greeting couldn't answer simple questions about the menu and generally was not very friendly or engaging. We did order a couple of lunch specials. They were very good the burger and the chicken parm sandwich. The Greek salad was good but the french fries were very standard. The restaurant itself looked a bit dated. I'm not sure if it was it may just have been a poor choice in fabrics and colours for the booths.

Manie's is one of my favorite restaurants on Uptown 17th no pretense, great value and excellent service and quality!
